Just to break the monotony here since I won't be going to the night of debauchery grumble grumble. Somewhat related to a bit of holiday travel contribution. Back in 1998, I know some of you weren't even alive. I was in St. Thomas for a national corporate award thinggie I'd won. I had the opportunity to go deep sea fishing and I landed a... 12 foot, 600 Lbs Blue Marlin. It was a tag an release and hopefully that monster is still swimming the waters off the Atlantic and the Caribbean. This was the bait This was the chair and this was the boat. Sadly this was all before the age of digital phones and although I had my camera with me, I'd not taken it out so the only picture I have of the "fish story" is from a nother person sitting at the top level of the boat looking down. The picture is the first mate trying to coax the beast up. What you see there is the fist about 8 feet under. For the sake of perspective, when it finally was brought up and he was able to tag it, the bill and tail of the fish were longer than the boat was wide at the back. I received a tag and release certificate from the Billfish foundation blah blah etc etc. But just to let you guys know, the next biggest fish caught that week was a 135 pounder.

before the age of digital phones Making yourself feel old with that Good job, how long did it take to get the marlin in? I know my brother who now resides in Australia catches shit like this on his Kayak (not one of those cheap Kayaks that easily tips over, it's a 2 person kayak with oars & pedals for whatever preference you have. Apparently the pedaling makes it ridiculously easy to get around) they've added loads of mods to it to make it even better for fishing and everyone who's used it has all remarked on how stable it is. He moved out there like a year and a half a go and goes out fishing on the kayak nearly every day, every weekend on one of the days he'll be out on the kayak at 7am... but seeing some of the fish he's caught I can see why. They eat fish a lot because he goes at catches them to eat lol Based on you going deep sea fishing like this, you'd very much enjoy fishing with him. I love the little invention for the spike on the back of the chair, put a tennis ball on to protect people haha!

HA! You know, I'd never really looked at that until you just mentioned it. I do not fish. I am not a fisherman, I went out fishing with a buddy many many years ago and we had calamari as bait, except we forget the bait in the trunk of his Audi Fox and took off on the fishing charter. We we returned that evening you'd swear you puke the instance the door to his car was opened. The bait sitting in a locked car in the summer... needless to say he sold that car two months later, we were never able to take the stink out.
I guess that's the irony of my "achievement" I don't fish. I am kind of eeked out about it, but the options were either golf, sigh seeing or a 4 wheel drive tour of the island. The deep sea fishing seemed the best option.

Please tell me that when you hooked the fish you said, " We're gonna need a bigger boat !"

I didn't do anything other than hold on for dear life. There's no way to haul a thing like that in. Basically the boat pulls it along while I held on and reeled it in as I could. My arms were like spaghetti and it took about an hour of coaxing. The funny thing was that you see all of the movies etc of the fish jumping high out of the water, this one never broke the surface. The only time I really did get a look at him was when he was being tagged. Almost ripped the first mates hand off as he was trying to remove the hook. Massive animal, over a yard in width at the widest point of the body at the sail. The picture of the boat was something I scanned from a brochure they had. I just Googled the Abigail 3 and they're still alive and kicking in the Virgin Islands. Captain Red and the Abigail III

Whoa that fish looks AWESOME. I'm a bit of an aquarium freak, if I caught a fish like that I'd bring it back and make a specially made aquarium just for it!
I did a spot of fishing during secondary school...that's about it. And during that time, I caught this weird looking fish (from a lake), it had this face like it wanted to kill you....and it stayed with me for almost a year while eating any/every other fish I had in the process....and finally died when I was at my grandparents. Dad told me the guy jumped out of the aquarium. Thought that never happened before. It made me quite sad, even though deep inside I knew it hated me.
Sorry about the boring story about some fish.
My greatest achievement so far is managing to find a lifestyle/career choice without anyone to report to which makes me happy. I don't do the 9-5, rather I get to peer outside my window and watch people in rush hour on the highways. It's quite a boring achievement but I'm thankful for it.

I don't take black car service often or ever really. Depends on the service I'd guess. Just like everything else. The only thing I really hold to is the 20% for good waiting service. Or a buck for a four dollar coffee I guess which is better, it depends on the size of your tits.

I have noticed the richer the client the less likely they are to tip

When it comes to achievements great and small, just thought I'd update you all on why I'm no longer a 20-posts-per-day member like I was a few years ago. Thankfully, some decent acting jobs are still cropping up here and there, mainly theatre in London, but I did a film with the legendary (and somehow still going) Lionel Blair last month, currently in post-production/editing, etc. It'll be pitched to Channel 4 initially, as the director has contacts there, but if that comes to nought, then it'll be going around the (good) film festivals.
Also just signed with a new agent/manager. So hopefully good things continue to lie ahead.

Damn Lew, if you end up on a GOT kind of series, you'd be banging a different chick in every series and I'll be first in line to ask for your autograph.

Keep pushing Lew, it's not only a good deal but if you love what you do, then it's less like work and more like play.
