I thought we had this thread already?? Hmm anyway....if anyone has good clips of past V8 races, please do link them here I can't get enough of it tbh.
Here's an example of an old clip I love. Drives like this are what I love about racing, nevermind who won the race.

Here's a clip with Scott Mclaughlin (Volvo Polestar) and multiple V8SC Champion Jamie Whincup (Red Bull Holden) having a awesome battle on the final lap in my hometown Adelaide, crowd goes nuts!

Oh yes, that's another of my favs. Here's Murphys lap of the gods at Bathurst, I've watched that lap at least 50 times by now.

Murph's lap of the Gods, Wow! Something that will remain in Bathurst folklore for generations, And he held that lap record for fair few years only to be beaten by the new generation cars and also with the Bathurst track being relaid with a new surface. Very impressive.

the last laps of the 2014 Bathurst 1000 and a race that Jamie Whincup let slip IMO, I couldn't work out why Jamie was pushing so hard and didn't save fuel better before the last lap and ignoring team radio, I think Jamie decided it was a all or nothing.

Yeah when I saw that I was wondering if JW was trying to keep a reasonable gap until the very end to make sure he won't be overtaken. Even if he tried conserving as soon as the message was relayed I doubt he could've won. 2nd place maybe.

JW was told to start saving fuel around lap 155 or even earlier than that which made it more strange why he didn't conserve a bit more then, But JW wanted that win so bad that he just went for it and hoped for the best i guess. JW has only won the Bathurst 1000 once in the 7 years now. He'll be even more determine to win Bathurst again this year and get the #1 back.

Why do I see a lot of hate for JW around btw? Did he do something sneaky/cheaty at any point in his career which people don't forget? I've not been following V8 for very long but I see a lot of negative comments aimed at him on youtube and couple of forums.....is it just because he's damn good? Lol

It just because he's damn good IMO
Only things I can think of because of the negative/hate comments is passionate Fords fans/Winterbottom fans out there and also he has completely dominated the sport and some ppl are probably over it. I'm sure some of the haters out there have numerous opinions of JW.
Whincup's record is quite impressive already looking into it. 6x V8SC champion, more than anyone else ever 4x Bathurst 1000 champion, Peter Brock holds the record with 9 Bathurst titles 97 race wins, 2nd most behind Craig Lowndes on 103 wins 63 pole positions, more than anyone else
One thing that would disappoint JW is the 4 Bathurst wins, I'm sure he feels he should have more, especially that some people in Aus would say that winning the Bathurst 1000 is bigger than winning the Championship itself.

Anyone saw Perth yesterday? Quite an uneventful race but man did it light up at the end! Totally expected Winterbottom to lose it at the end, how he hung on I have no idea. Great driving all around. And looking more and more like the next 'great' would be McLaughlin, always fighting at the sharp end now.
Gutted with Whincup, he looked useless yesterday. Very uncharacteristic, apparently just didn't get the setup right.

I watched the highlights of the Perth, (Thanks to freaking subscription TV, can't even watch all the full races in Australia on free to air, what a joke) Anyways really thought McLaughlin had Winterbottom, who did quite well to win that, very good drive.
Mclaughlin is definitely hot property right now and with Volvo Polestar deciding to pull out of V8SC after this season he is more than likely on the move and Team Penske is the likely team for 2017. As for Whincup, I think he's just fallen a bit behind where he normally is, And his new team mate Van Gisbergen no slouch and my pick for the championship this year IMO, A 7th title for Jamie ain't going to be easy, There is 5 or 6 drivers with a good shot at the title. Its going to be a terrific championship fight.

Agreed, many top drivers in good machinery now. Though I still think this could be the last hurrah for JW before he gives up his 'stud of the field' mantel. Needs some luck this year to seal the deal this year though. From next year I think there's too many younger and hungrier drivers coming up the ranks.

Well looks like the V8SC round in Malaysia won't be happening after things fell through with the promoters in KL city.

Goddamnit. I thought it was strange, when hunting for tickets online about a month ago there was nothing solid and I couldn't find an online booth anywhere!

*ok, the video link didn't work.. was putting up a highlights from race 8 where an amazing tyre strategy call mid race saw Craig Lowndes come from 32s back to overtake most of the field and win. THIS is what I would love to see in F1 with the tyre range. Forget bringing 3 close sets, give teams the option of Ultra Soft, Soft, or Hard... with potential 2s a lap difference between compounds.

Does seem V8SC are still keen to try for KL round in the future, its just up to the promoters in msia to give it the green light it seems.
