Because: reasons It's the same as an aborted start procedure, car do another formation lap and the total race distance is reduced by 1. If they didn't do that, then they may as well red flag till there is no rain, because cars would need to refuel. The one I like is that cars starting from pit lane may or may not decide to do any formation laps!

Still don't get the reasons. "These laps will be FORMATION laps, not counted as RACE laps," if they're formation laps why are they coming off the total as though they were race laps? Am I being thick? Perhaps it's because I haven't followed F1 very long

The reason they're not counted as race laps is because technically you can't get race "stats" from them. So in other words, you wouldn't be able to set a fast lap etc. That's not the point, more of an incidental. What they're trying to do with it is effectively use the cars to dry the track. They have to be taken off the total because of the diminishing race fuel and with no in race fueling they'd effectively run out of gas before the end if they didn't deduct the laps from the total lenght of the race.

Cheers. Yeah, I do kindov get that, and those reasons. But I think they're being sneaky calling them formation laps but counting them as race laps...even though they aren't.
They should choose a new name that means a lap run behind the pace car that will actually count as a race lap even though it isn't. I think they should call them...
Scam laps Or Coffee break laps Or Snoozey laps Or Fakies Or Mind-the-gap-Vettel laps

He should keep this design for the second half. His current helmet is horrible.

They are like a midfield dream team.
Ocon still needs to balance those stats in comparison with his teammate starting with Spa. Some will say looking at the result is pretty useless because every story is different if you look at Massa and Stroll or Alonso and Vandoorne and this is he’s first season against an experienced driver but at some point numbers don’t lie, so lets see if he can finish the season stronger than Perez at least.

Lmao Nando drove like a retard at Raidillon 2 times and damage his front wing at La Source, amateur shit from him. I think Spa is one of his worst circuit. He could have used a lower gear when he going up to the hill to have a better acceleration ala Kimi to pass Magnussen maybe. Magnussen is like Max when it comes to defend his position though.
By the way my intuition keep telling me Kimi will outqualify Vettel at Spa.

He also crashed into Webber behind the safety car at Fuji in 2007, took them both out. . I think he tried to blame Hamilton for that one as well.
