How to get Sky's customers embarrassed in front of their TV part 2. I would love to see Brundle's face during all of that crappy thing.

www.f1i.fr/infos/technique-infos/neuf-capot-de-ferrari/www.f1i.fr/infos/technique-infos/mercedes-innove-a-lavant/The radiators have been completely reorganized. Since 2016, the Ferrari have in each bargeboards two radiators arranged like a V : a long above and a shorter below, at the end. On the SF71H, however, only one radiator has been retained: it is longer and is installed much more vertically, as seen in the image above and below. This implementation can clear the rear of the car.
The Mercedes W09 had revised its front suspension compared to the 2017 model. On the Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas cars, the rockers are connected between two by metallic pieces in the shape of a pointer or a drop of water (see white arrows). In roll, they activate the torsion bars (there is no conventional anti-roll bar). In diving, it is the "third suspension element" - indicated by a yellow arrow - which is activated. This is a new model compared to the one we could see on the W08. At Mercedes, this diving damper is completely hydraulic (it consists of a damper and an inerter, that is to say, damper of inertia), while it has a mechanical spring on other single-seaters. By connecting the front left and right wheels, this damper controls the dive of the car under braking (or under the effect of the support), as well as the ride height. In other words, it reinforces the firmness of the dampers when necessary (at high speed, when the aerodynamic load increases) but remains neutral in turns. This means that it influences the positioning of the front wing in relation to the track as well as the maintenance of the car's attitude (by preventing it from plunging its nose, because in this case the separator would rub the bitumen, using the wooden plate beyond the tolerance provided by the regulation, etc.).

Would the interconnected front suspension have an aero influence ?

Glorious day here at Albert Park! The sun is high in the sky, the cars are roaring past, the beer is cold and flowing better than a McLaren, and all is right in the world! The more things change, the more they stay the same. Another year, another FP1 with McLaren struggling to get out of the pits. Can't blame the engine supplier when it's only your cars this time guys! Mercedes look great on track, so smooth and flowing. Sauber look great in the sun, but a horror to drive it seems. And tomorrow... well crap. This is almost 99.9% assured of being a wet qualifying. Heaviest rain looks set to be done by about 1:30pm, but Q1 will certainly be on full wets. As for Sunday... looks like a dry start, but expect inters by the end of the race. All in all, looking very tasty

Almost puked when I seen the first footage from the t-cam onboard, thats going to take a while for me to get used to. Also looks now that other lower onboard cameras are totally pointless now as the halo obstruct about 60 to 70% of the view.
Anyhoo that Mercedes already looks very good.

The amount of info a viewer could get from what the car was doing by looking at the front wing and suspension is all gone. We won't even be able to tell if someone has damage to the front wing now. It's comical and I only say that because I don't want to acknowledge what a damned abomination it looks like on TV.

And THIS is why they needed to be filming during testing.. to see all this crap and come up with solutions prior to Round 1. I highly doubt that this will be the finished feed by June.

I didn't think the Halo was going to be that bad but they're much more thicker and chunkier than I expected, I know its hard to argue against safety but this is a complete joke. If F1 wants head protection then it had to go with the see thru screen/shield.

Daniel Ricciardo hit with a 3 place grid drop for a red flag infringement. What is it with this grand prix and its home driver's, zero luck.

I woke up and put on jeans and a short sleave shirt. By Lunch I was wearing a raincoat and boots. Now I'm in shorts and a T-shirt. Welcome to Melbourne!
I've put in calls to mates, all about 20mins from the track. There is drizzle in the west & south of Melbourne. The east is bright and clear. The north is humid and very very light spots of rain. Here at the park, it's muggy and overcast. This is going to be a great session!

Oh Valtteri, Valtteri!!
Probably not done Lewis any favours either. He was out front, clear track, no rain. Now he’s used a bit of tyre up and the lap wasted.

Comentary on point today:
MB: (talking about photographers) It's a top team's nightmare to have a crash and see their car on a truck this early in the season, exposed to snaps" *Bottas crashes 15s later*
Rosberg: Everyone may as well pack up and go home when he’s in this form Hamilton: 1:21.164
