I could sure do with those 'Adrian Newey to Renault' rumors again! and for it to come true. Doubt it....he's very much at the twilight of his career and very integrated in RB. He's not just part of race team operations anymore. Would he jump ship to RBs most hated organization? Hmm... Anyway, the Cyril guy doesn't seem like a dummy. The team has been progressing at a steady pace and they might be in for podiums next year. Wins unlikely, but realistically I think we'd have to wait for post 2021 to see another big shift in grid dynamics.

Just hoping while Merc and Ferrari battle it out hard and throwing most of their resources at the f1 2019 and 2020 season, Renault can look a little ahead and get a head start on the opposition in terms of development.

I don’t think we’ll see anything settled here until Ferrari and Red Bull announce their second drivers.
Except maybe this one..... Don’t you think Stroll is now a dead cert at Force India?

50% off site wide at Williams... everything must go driver and sponsor. Yeah, they're going to be in trouble next year without a major infusion of cash. The field is ripe for a manufacturer to come into the sport A la Mercedes in 2010 and build toward 2021.

Would love to see a Cosworth Williams partnership.... Time is ripe for Ford to step back up to the plate. Or GM actually.... a Williams Chevy for 2021!

Not entirely sold on the American jump into the F1 competetive scene. Haas isn't it.
If VAG doesn't jump on this now that they're out of WEC, they never will.

Love the latest Redbull article where Horner links 'Chaos' to 'Fonzi'. Loud and clear, what a lot of people know but just don't say.

Where there's a charred wreckage there was Alonso. I have to say thought that would be one hot sauce driver pairing Alonso and Verstappen. Muy caliente.

Ah, Fernando Alonso....... You know what, people are STILL going on that he is the best driver in F1 and if he only had a top car, he could win everything. So much so, that he believes it. Newsflash: He isn't and can't. He reminds me of an ex-pro who was injured once and now tells everyone "I was the greatest! I could have been an immortal if it wasn't for the knee." I think him leaving McLaren was the worst thing that could have happened to him. Being humbled 2 seasons in a row by an upstart rookie may have tempered his ego and he could have grown from it. Instead, he's been babied and coddled at Renault, Ferrari, and now back at McLaren, and honestly acts worse than my kid did at 2.
Unfortunately, Horner saying Alonso is "chaos" is like a Sloth telling a turtle he's slow.
Other news: So Lawrence Stroll has saved the jobs at Force India. Brilliant. My cousin's partner worked at Brawn when Honda pulled out, and it was horrible seeing staff having to leave their dream roles. But is it good news for the drivers? There's a LOT of upset people out there saying it's wrong if Lance gets to stay in F1 because Daddy "buys him a team", but is that fair on Lance? Is he really the worst F1 driver on the grid? Hard to gauge if he has grown at all, given the state of the current Williams car. Last season he wasn't totally embarrassed by Massa, out scoring him in 4 of the 12 races where they both finished. He finished in the points just under half the races where he finished the race. He was hit by Vettel and didn't cry about it (yes, I still blame Seb for that stupid post-race move.) I would like to see him get at least 1 season at Force (Canada), especially if Ocon stayed.
Williams are almost certainly going to take up a Mercedes deal on as much tech parts as the rules allow, not only to improve the car but to reduce costs. Without Martini and possibly no further cash injection from Stroll, they are going to struggle for money next season. This is another reason why I think that a Mercedes rookie deal will come through. Russell would be an odds on favorite to replace Stroll except for one thing; it leaves the team with no recognised "senior" driver to help develop the car. Maybe a straight swap of Ocon and Stroll would be on the cards instead then?

I believe that Wherlein might have a shot if Ocon wasn't so established now and Russel is obviously ready according to Mercedes. So we can presume he's out out now just like the half dozen Red Bull Jr. team drivers left by the wayside.

This means McLaren will likely have a dominate car for 2019 and win the championship.

Carlos Sainz set to be confirmed as McLaren driver for 2019. Would they risk Norris for a new look lineup, or is this good news for Vandoorne? Who now fills the Torro Rosso / Red Bull seats? Is Gasly ready to step up to the big boys team, or will they look for a solid #2 driver to back Max and keep Gasly at Torro Rosso for another season?
Still no word on Kimi or Grosjean's futures.

Fernando Alonso says 'very poor' F1 spectacle prompted decision to quitFernando Alonso says his decision to quit Formula One at the end of the current season has nothing to do with McLaren's failure to give him a competitive car since 2015. Earlier this week Alonso announced he will not be on the F1 grid in 2019, although his statement left the door open for a return if McLaren can re-discover its competitiveness. McLaren has not won a race or scored a podium since Alonso joined in 2015. Despite his recent struggles Alonso said he was more concerned at the direction F1 has followed in recent years. "When I was in 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, I was not winning any single race in those years. It was difficult to predict what could happen now in Spa or Monza," Alonso said. "Now we can write down what is going to happen at Spa or Monza. "We can put the first 15 positions with maybe one or two mistakes. How predictable everything became is tough. We came to Barcelona, we test the first day in winter testing, and you know what you will do until November in Abu Dhabi." He added that it "is not the case" that he became too frustrated with McLaren's current situation to continue any longer. "I have other, bigger challenges than those Formula One can offer right now. It's a sport or a series that definitely has some very positive things I've been enjoying for 17 years or 18 years of my life. I think I achieved much more than what I dreamed when I started in 2001, and right now, the action on-track is not the one that I dreamed of when I joined Formula One when I was in different series, or the action on-track that I experienced in other years. _______________________________________________________________

We should be able to predict the top fifteen with one or two mistakes in the pool. Alonso is in the wrong career, he'd make more money with the bookies than behind the wheel. Anyway, I'm sure the action on track with Toyota in Le Mans was exactly what Alonso means when he talks about unpredictability.
