He did get a reprimand and now has 3 points, the grid penalty was probably warranted but in reality it would be hollow. They have the capability to quickly move up the grid anyway.

This guy just keeps proving he needs to go.
I understand the drivers can't see their front wing - but I don't believe he didn't realise something was catastrophically wrong - so to know that and still drag a limping car through the tunnel is the move of a rookie !!

He has given them two podiums this year and is even with Vettel on points. That in and of itself is an improvement from last season and we're not even at the halfway point. They didn't ditch him last year when they should have, it would be hypocritical do it this year. This bodes well for Jenson.

5th place in what's arguably the best car for the fist half of the season is good enough for a contract renewal. Vettel must have very iron clad contract stipulations. Congratulations to Kimi, I guess.

To be fair, what alternative was there? It was 1980 the last time they put a full F1 rookie in a Ferrari. RBR want's $7m just to buy out Sainz, Perez is not a "Ferrari" kinda driver, and that would only leave Alonso as an option. Ferrari may make bad choices, but even they aren't dumb enough to put 2 "#1" drivers in the same team! (yes McLaren and Mercedes I'm looking at you here!)
Give Leclerc a year at Sauber to "develop" (also known as free reign on rookie mistakes.) 2019 is shaping to be a MUCH better silly season right now, with many 3yr contracts up and all these 1yr options!

The problem is that if you never bring up the driver academy driver what's the point. I think Ferrari got a free pass on the Jules Bianchi death. The reason they're keeping Kimi is because he sells merchandise but there are half a dozen drivers that would do better than Kimi. Perez would cost them perhaps, but not Grosjean. Certainly they could have gotten Hulkenberg, Sainz... I mean Sainz for crying out loud would equal Kimi for certain and would cost them 1/4 of the salary.
Kimi is comfortable pulling the 15 to 20 Million euros he reportedly gets, I don't blame him, but don't pass it off as the right decision when they spend 10 months out of the year criticizing the guy's performance.
