Not saying he wasn't consistent, his being able to drive isn't a doubt. And the graph show that, he's consistant. Not the fastest over a lap (4th out of the 6), nor the best average over 30 laps... but consistant. But this is why I'm saying other factors come into it. Buemi, Conway, and Lopez all did faster one off laps. Buemi had rain/drizzle for 45 odd laps which skews his plot.. but it all means nothing in the end when it comes to an endurance race. This is probably the 12th year I've done the start-9pm then 1am-finish viewing, and it really had me thinking "Why bother showing LMP1 at all" for the first time.
I'm sorry, but I'm firmly in the "Alonso drove well but did nothing special" camp. Why? Maybe because he was overhyped, maybe it was the giftwrap still on the trophy, maybe it was just because I haven't rated him as a top 5 F1 driver for years. I was far more impressed with the flying pig.
