We need this thread!! I'll start with last week. I went to Weymouth and Corfe castle and did a really lovely walk along the cliffs ( crab sandwiches at a pub for lunch)finishing in a place called West Bay, which is where Broadchurch was filmed. At Weymouth we stayed in a typical seaside hotel, smell of stale food, Formica tables and bright lights in the bar, untidy and messy lobby and 'those' carpets on the floor. But it served ok as a base. The hotel at Corfe was the exact opposite, AMAZING big old stone building roaring fires in a huge lounge, gorgeous. Went to Chesil beach as well.

When we first saw those people in yellow jackets and hard hatswe thought there'd been a cliff fall.Someone died under a cliff fall not far from there last year. But that wasn't the case. I tnink it was probably students studying the rocks.
Yes, lovely dog Jabs, I love Huskies, but they're very hard to train, they need a strong firm master.

Aww this sucks, the I could probably really contribute to this thread when December comes. It's my annual holiday month. Unlike "some people" who travel the world in every odd month of the year.

Just back from Dublin. First day took the dart ( a train) out to the fishing village of Howth. Walked around the headland round the bog of frogs, then had a yummy scrummy lobster risotto. Next a boat down to Dunleary( it's not spelt like that) then the dart back to Dublin and some good old fashioned Dublin pubs.
Second day walked around Dublin, museums, galleries, things like that, more nice old pubs and lovely good.
Last day , bit of shopping then home.
I have some pics but for some reason they haven't gone from my phone to the iPad, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. So I'll see if I can post them from the phone.

Is that a walk bride or it is open to traffic? Looks beautiful. We don't have many "progressive" bridges stateside.

It's both, four traffic lanes, a walkway and a cycle path. And it swings round to let boats through.
And I wasn't sure. I had to look that up. LOL I didn't actually go across it. But it does look stunning with that building behind it. Some much better professional pictures if it if you google it and do images.

Today I am in Cambodia. My iPad goes quicker and the 'like' function is back. Whoopee!!!! But then after this week it's back to China for two weeks. Grrrrr. Seeing a palace this afternoon, then a swim in the pool. Tomorrow the killing fields and S21prison . That will be sobering . I'm just reading the book, surviving the killing fields and it's unbelievable what happened.

Hammer have you been to the genocide prison and the killing fields? It's a similar feeling to visiting Auswitz. Harrowing, horrific, haunting. The worst for me was when babies and children were involved. There was a tree in the killing fields site where they smashed babies heads then threw them into a pit. How can people to this? It's so unbareably sad. Pol Pot and his cronies at the top were educated, most of them in France where they fell in love with communism and practised their fancy ideas on a country. They killed all the doctors, teachers and other educated people and they split up families separating old people and children. They tortured innocent people in unimaginably cruel ways. Yet that bastard had a good life enjoying his family and grandchildren until he died at 73 under house arrest. He killed a quarter of the population and destroyed the country. Bastard!!

Yeah I checked those places out about 3 years ago but the memories are still fresh. Eerie and very disturbing, especially the prisons. When you see the equipment still in there rotting, and the descriptions of how people were tortured you get what kind of shit these places went through. I'd still say though, the war museum in Vietnam takes the cake in terms of depression in detail. It's 4 floors full of pictures and descriptions of how much those guys suffered, and effects of Agent Orange. Vietnam was almost reduced to a desert and how they've built themselves back to where they are now is nothing short of amazing. Like one big storyline from the ground floor to the 4th floor. One of my mates stopped reading after 2 floors and just sat down pale faced, he couldn't take much more. And you'll see some people in tears. It's an experience.
