Mclaren have revealed that Alonso signed a three year contact worth around 25 million a year. And it has no opt out clauses in it. There had been speculation that Alonso had insisted on opt out clauses , should a more favourable seat become available. Which means if Lewis for any reason didn't resign with MERC. But Ron denies that and says he is committed to returning to the front and dominating the sport again with Alonso at the helm. Lots of talking up of Alonso. Lots of fighting talk from Ron. He says he has the best driver pairing... "To put it simply: in Fernando and Jenson we have the best driver line-up in Formula One,” declared Dennis." Sorry Ron, but I don't think you do! www1.skysports.com/f1/news/24184/9831212/fernando-alonso-signed-three-year-mclaren-deal-reveals-ron-dennis

Whitmarsh was dirtier than we ever thought, didn't think that possible! Not just idolising Jenson and shitting on Lewis , but actively trying to replace Lewis . GIT FACE!!! He was a sneaky cheat who tried to steal Rons company off him without paying for it. Ron had to leave and so he handed over to weakfarce the employee, who then went to the shareholders and told them he would replace Ron and do a better job if placed in control. And set out to dismantle the company. Makes sense that Lewis had to fail for this to happen It was almost worth it to see how Ron dealt with it, like a lamearse twat who giggles and cries and promises in front of the media to kiss his disturbingly goodlooking driver 'not just on both cheeks but inbetween' if he won a race could ever win against a guy who makes statements like this whist his team is bottom of the table (apart from the 2 best drivers bit - thats clearly getting carried away lol)

The article said it was at the back end of 2013 when he was actively looking for Alonso to replace Lewis, by then Lewis was already at Mercedes. Unless autumn is at the start of the season....sorry I live in a country with only 1 season so these 4 seasons confuse me.

Once it was obvious that Button wasnt enough, and probably with pressure from the owners, to replace Lewis he targeted the guy who 'wouldnt come back if Ron was involved' It seemed odd that McLaren had suddenly turned to Mr 100 mill debit - it was Twatfarce that threw his last dice after realising Button couldnt fill the Lewis gap

Ah Ok. So he wasn't actually trying to get rid of Lewis ( other than piss him off, talk him down and jepordise championships by concentrating on Button at all costs). I think it backfired on Whitmarsh somewhat. Losing Lewis was the nail in his coffin. So maybe then his thinking went something like this........
' Oh shit, that doesn't look good. I've just lost the fastest driver. I need to do something's quickly. I know! I'll try to get Alonso and sell to the board that actually he's better than Lewis. Yes ! This is a great idea. Ron hates Alonso, bad blood, so I get myself back firmly in bed with the board. '
But Ron boxed clever, played along, looked at the bigger picture.
:hello:Bye bye Martin!
Id love to have seen the actual scene where Ron sent him packing!!

There are a lot of rumours going around that McLaren's chassis isn't up to scratch and that the engine only accountable for 50% of their total deficit, I personally don't think this is quite fair as they haven't really had a chance to do propper aero work because they've been focused on the Engine. If they get some good areo kits added to the car I genuinely think we could see McLaren fighting with Williams in three or four races time and Red Bull/Lotus/Toro Rosso in two races time with just the engine improvements alone.

Theres no point adding aero downforce until you are developing full power reliably

On paper its a logically killer proposition
The same approach that saw RBR ahead for 5 years - - the car optimised (tightly packaged) around aero even to the point of using a smaller Kers and engine with less power and a bit lighter on fuel added to an engine architecture at least as good as Mercs with even more compactness again with an eye on the size zero packaging
The only thing is get it to develop full power without compromising the aero philosophy for extra unplanned cooling etc
They havent used full power yet so they cant have even begun to realise the size zero aero potential. They have to get the engine working properly within the design constraints first and only then can they see how much of the aero potential they can exploit.
If anything its actually exactly the way RBR mastered aero in th last era, and are unable to replicate now because the Renault PU brings nothing to th 'integration payof' party - whereas Hondas PU is hosting the party
Once they get rid of no grip Button and start developing full power at whatever aero cost from the size zero - then we can see what effective aero they actually have, till then whatever the aero parts they show will be much much less than the optimised sum

They've been talking about it for a bit, and hinting to it for a few races now with the top side of the car painted in this color, but here it the finished product.

Maybe its 'optimised' to look faster than it is for the cameras I am surprised they didnt make it all white around the engine to help with cooling, God knows they need all the help they can get with reflecting heat lol

I like it, it looks more aggressive butt they should have thrown on some white around the rear of the car with some red and yellow lines.

It would've looked pretty damn good if that weird red slash in the middle of the nose was removed.
