I get that part, what I don't get is the significance of Hull or why it was outstanding enough to have Merc respond.

It wasn't really that it was Hull. They were just tweeting as they do. They're very good at involving fans all the time. And LRW was the first to give the right answer and Mercedes responded. It is WELL cool when Mercedes respond or Retweet or favourite you!
Unless Hull has some vital F1 relevance that has gone clean over my head? That's highly likely.

Mercedes put up photos of the road leading to the Circuit at Monza asking people to guess where they were. This was replied to by about 30 people tweeting "Monza...!" So because I am a humorous sort of chap I thought of a place as far away from Monza as I could. And the dirty industrial Northern English coastal town of Hull fitted the bill. So I tweeted "Hull...!" Mercedes obviously saw my comedic talent, and so reciprocated with a just as funny "nailed it...!" This is why it is good. Because Merc see how funny I am. :/

Don't want to end up in Hull!!! Anyway! you are now on Mercedes radar! You should have gone straight back with.....' An answer like that a Surely deserves a follow!!

I've always been hard on the Merc livery but they've evolved it over the years to where it's actually attractive now.

Mercedes are tweeting about a job opportunity they have. They're looking for a new presenter. They're tweeting about it. Must be fluent in English and German.

Funny how he's the first to sound 'defensive' in the team, I read that earlier and thought aha....Paddy paddy paddy. You little defensive wally.

Probably co Niki said on German tv that it was a problem of too many cooks and too much talking and Paddy didnt override it and make a decision. And he said this has been ongoing problem. Toto has been carrying the can all this time, I guess paddy had no choice but to venture out from behind his wifes skirt and 'defend' his lack of leadership At least he didnt say all this talk about Brawn doing better was also excessive

I wonder why Bono didn't jump up and say something? I've a feeling Nico's engineer might have done so. But maybe Bono did and was shouted down. Toto did make his initial apology to Lewis AND HIS ENGINEERS. I wish Paddy would man up or let someone else take on the role. It's always Lewis that his indecision is stuffing. And the criticism wasn't excessive, it was deserved. Anyone with a brain could see that the gap , even if calculated correctly, had become too risky to go for the stop.

I reckon Lewis wanted to pit, assuming Nico and Seb were pitting and (in that context) correctly decided to be conservative and use his lead to also pit for free. Bono likely said no dont pit, but couldnt say Nico or Seb were not pitting, so his voice was weak. Nicos engineers knew he wasnt pitting as Seb wasnt but probably were not best placed to inform Lewis about this. And the strategist who knew what Nico was doing and who knew why the Merc mechanics were in the pit lane ready to receive someone was probably a litle scared of upsetting Lewis or of screwing up was too weak to say why Lewis should stay out. And this is exactly were a Ross would say NO Lewis, Stay out, Nico is staying out, we are not pitting either of you
This is where Paddy went missing and like in the McLaren days turns to a computer or text book model to tell him what to do, as drummed into his skull by the lame insidious worst TP in history who was clueless in th first place
Shame Bob Bell left, he could be a great pitwall replacement for Paddy, allowing Paddy to maybe stay in the factory and do what he is good at instead of proving that pipsqueaks with little presence and highly punchable faces are npot able to garner the respect or confidence needed to lead star drivers and star staff.
Merc need someone like Ross or Ron where everyone says 'how high and for how long?' when they say jump

I read somewhere that for a team that run on data that pitting was the right thing to do. As the day before there was problems warming up the tires, especially as the tires where well used. Also at that time they believed they had enough time to get back out in front of Nico and Seb, so you can see in that sense why they did it.
I suppose it was obvious for everyone with less data at our fingertips to see how silly the mistake was. I suppose you could say they where blinded by the numbers when they should of gone with their gut
