It's that time of year again, the beginning of the race season. Sunday is the Rolex 24, something to watch, new Porsche, life is good.

Is Mercedes hinting at a future WEC program here with this project?

Alot of this going around for the last few weeks. The writing has been on the wall. What's next for WEC after Porsche quits LMP1I've been saying for quite some time now, the ROI from LMP1 just isn't there. It costs just as much as F1 with a small fraction of the global coverage.

WEC is screwed, Seems FE is really attracting Manufacturers, times are changing.
That could mean Toyota have got their chance to cruise to a Le mans victory in the future, although it will be a hollow victory without another make to fight it out with. Toyota will definitely have to start considering there future in Motorsport as well.

I took this poll. One of the things I recommended would be a GTC class, I'd love to see WEC include brands like VW, or Alfa or Honda or Fiat racing in cars that are the entry level performance cars for the youth market.
Too much reliance on LMP1 and it's simply too much money that class has to invest in order to compete, but there's simply not enough ROI for their troubles. Focus more on GTE manufacturers and grow that as the main attraction.

At this rate we'll see high schoolers dropping out and becoming F1 World Champions.

Ran across this old Audi Quattro documentary online, reminded me of people complaining about "unfair advantages" in racing. An unfair advantage is Ferrari getting $ simply for showing up, not having a technological advantage you created through R&D and hard core implementation. Enjoy.

In WEC Andre Lotterer is the the combined Alonso, Hamilton, Schumacher, Senna, Fangio and any other F1 great you can think of, all rolled up into one. It's remarkable what the FiA are doing to guarantee Toyota their win. Alonso better win this, if he doesn't the man is truly cursed.

Congratulations to Alonso, yeah it was a bit of a hollow victory, coming into the team when there was no other competition but in the end you have to beat the sister car and you have to beat Le Mans.
Monaco, check. Le Mans, check. Indy?

Yep, congrats to Fonzo, and Toyota despite the lack of competition.
And as for the Indy 500, its probably the hardest one to crack now, could take a few attempts. Really think Alonso would be better off doing a full Indycar season next year than driving the McLaren in F1
