Is there anything that can be said about the US Grand Prix that can't be summarized in this battle?

JB is a dick! A duck too, but I meant a dick! Article on him with questions in F1 magazine. I read the first question and vomited!

So I spoke to a fair few people last week about the USA GP and how Hamilton dominates sector 1 every single year, he's always a step above them all overall for the track, the only reason he didn't get pole previous years (like with Rosberg) was because he wasn't comfortable with his brakes and would lock up a lot but even still he had the fastest sector 1 each time just that when it got to qualifying he'd always push a tiny bit too hard a lock up. I told them all that Hamilton hasn't really had those sort of brake issues this year and I predicted that Hamilton would get pole & dominate sector 1 to which they all laughed at me and essentially told me I was wrong and that he would be yet again beaten by his teammate in qualifying. It came to Friday's practice sessions and I instantly knew that I was in for a good chance of being spot on as Hamilton again went out there and straight away controlled sector 1 and on both of his runs on each compound he was 3 tenths faster than his teammate, I expected that to drop a little bit and when we got to the second practice session Rosberg did pull the gap down a little and sure he was fastest at the end of the session but sector times I was still correct in and overall, sector times pointed that Hamilton was still faster. Practice 3 came around and again Hamilton was 3 tenths faster than his teammate. We get to qualifying and the first part of qualifying was very comfortable, they hardly pushed, the second part they started to push and it certainly looked like Hamilton was easier on his tyres (other than turn 1) than Rosberg throughout the lap. Final part of qualifying, Hamilton shows us that he can match and beat his teammate in sector 1, my theory was correct and he got provisional pole. On their next runs the very same thing happens and as I rightfully predicted Hamilton DOMINATED sector 1. I did get a text from one friend just after qualifying with "Props for calling that over a week ago, I didn't see that coming at all." www.formula1.com/en/video/2016/10/Onboard_pole_position_lap_-_Lewis_Hamilton__United_States_2016.htmlIf you look at Hamilton's onboard, he still probably had another tenth that he could make up through the lap. He could have got a little tighter on 3 of the corners and also lost maybe half a tenth at turn 11/down the straight, almost like he played it safe as it's most common lockup area on this track

There were no big issues but we just need more downforce, more power to go faster around the lap. -Kimi Raikkonen

The Austin circuit is surely one of the best new ones we've had in recent times.
I always enjoy the race there.

Agree, it's actually got purpose. It demands a little bit of everything from the cars and the drivers and it will expose weaknesses ff they're there.
It's why Ferrari is over a second off the Mercedes here.

BTW, a lot of talk about the Austin circuit disintegrating fast, the flooding and grounds having to take up so much water coupled with the intense Texas summer sun have done a number on the circuit since new; that being said...
All three top qualifiers when Faster than the previous lap record.

A few extra bumps shouldn't be an issue for anyone. Once upon a time, it was only Magny-Cours which was super-smooth....

The super softs are going to be worthless today, apparently a few degrees hotter than yesterday, they'll struggle to get five laps out of them.

We all think we're good drivers. Saw this over on F1tech... it's a sobering video of what's going on in the cockpit. Downright bewildering!

Thats why its stupid when idiots out there say these drivers can't hold a candle to Senna and Prost, all they had to do was turn the wheel and press the gas. And of course, a car which is a lot less stable. Different challenges in different times. But I still think I can beat Lewis though.

Some engine problem for him again. He reckons he'll be down on some power. Can't wait for this shit season to finish.

Mercedes think everything will be fine.
