So. Williams had a good year last year, and comfortably came in 3rd.
With the extra revenue this brings, I really hope they can continue this upward trend and give Mercedes a good run for their money.

As long as Massa is there... But let's see what they do. If they back up this year building on what they did last, it's going to be a good fight for second in the WCC.

I like Massa, I must admit I started to dislike him when he was constantly being the cause of so many incidents especially with Hamilton but he's a nice guy and I do feel sorry for him with regards to the Alonso stuff :/
I hope for Williams' sake they do well again this year, 2nd or 3rd at the end of the year would be perfect.

Honestly they are fighting for 2nd in the WCC, anything less it's a letdown. They have the foundation, if Massa steps it up and is consistent in the points, I can't see them walking away from every race without 15 to 20 points unless they have a DNF.
Massa just had an abysmal first half of the season last year and a good chunk of it was not his fault. I Montreal being the one that he screwed up, I guess just being anxious to get a big score.

Massa is a steady Eddie, brings the points in.

Massa is a steady Eddie, brings the points in. That's a good thing though - for at least one driver in your team.

He was incredibly unlucky last year, got in a lot of incidents without it even being his fault... You think in the first 7 races it was 40 vs 18, Massa had been kicked out of the points 3 times when he should of had atleast a further 18ish points, so they should have been only 4 points different at this stage. Austria came around and they both did well, sure Bottas out-raced Massa but stil decent from both. We get to Silverstone and Massa loses out because he tried to avoid the crashing Kimi, we get to Germany and Massa gets flipped by a car behind into turn 1... Now the points were something like 90 vs 30. The second half of the season, they're both pretty evenly matched and Massa had a further 2 non points finishes one was at Russia where he was knocked out from the first part of qualifying, it really looked like something was wrong with his car because he struggled throughout the race even though his team mate had no problems but even then Massa did better in the second half scoring 10 points more than his teammate. It was one of the worst, best cars last year somehow managing to be good at one track, crap at the next but towards the end of the season they managed to iron out the problems and consistently came 3rd and 4th.

I think William will be the clear 2nd placed team this year. They've built on the foundation of a good chassis and the Mercedes engine is still the one to have. Based on the comments by Symonds (someone that isn't superfluous with words) They are taken aback by the bar Mercedes has set though a Mercedes front row lockout it not always going to be the case this season.

Oh SNAP... Symonds is all over today but this is smack talk, season is really under way!
This is interesting though as many people have question the "gray area" for manufacturer being able to provide inferior equipment to their customers. He addresses that here as well.

Does anyone think that Mercedes (Toto) might have been a reason for Williams' success last year, they were the second fastest car and SHOULD of had P2 in the constructors if it wasn't for the incidents at the start of the year with Massa.
I mean he did have shares in the team & his wife works for the team... to me it looked so much like they KNEW something from Mercedes (not that I'm bothered by that, I'm sure Ferrari & Hass will do it and I'm sure Red Bull & Toro Rosso do it)

I'd never considered that possibility. But it's something that is plausible at the very least given the crap and back room dealings that go on in the sport.

He still owns shares doesn't he? I thought Alex Wurtz was his eyes on the ground for him

I recall reading somewhere that he sold some shares at the end of the year, going from about 15% to just 5% now. Don't quote me though.

Bet you that Williams shares in January 2014 were a lot less valuable than the same Williams shares in December 2014. Didn't you buy a "symbolic" share or something Andy?

No I never got around to it in the end. I don't think you can buy single shares can you?

So. Bottas is touch and go for tomorrow - and from what I can see they have no reserve drives - only two test drivers - Alex Lynn and Susie Wolff.
What route do you think they would take if he was ruled out?
Susie for the attention on the team?
Or Lynn because he has more experience (Albeit in a lower series) ?

Apparently I've read if Bottas can't drive - Wiliiams will field a single car.
Apparently precedent has been set years ago, and a driver needs to have taken part in at least one Saturday session to race on a Sunday.
