Looks like fun! I've been poking the idiots on gpudate threads. Must have worked, 2 of them came back and admitted they were wrong about the brake check thing!

Nice post mortem here from GPUpdate I know in many dark recesses of the interwebz hate and bitterness was expressed over the last couple of days, throwing all logic to the wind, because the smell of a championship hasn't been in the air for a decade and can create a frenzy. But as humans, we must all live by some sort of logic, otherwise you wind up a lonely four man (or woman) circle jerk that would be at home as an episode of the X-Files. Here's an except that for some, will be a bitter pill... but not any more bitter than having supported a losing team for a decade or supporting a worm of driver.

Vettels reaction was IMO similar to Maldonado's in spa qualifying a few years ago and I think he got a 5 place grid drop for that. Maybe we can now compare vettels temperament to Maldonado.

As far as the points, the championship, the lunacy, the loss of a race by both Ferrari and Mercedes for different reason, that's just part of the sport. Any loss today can be easily recovered from with 12 races to go. What's inexcusable is one driver throwing his car at another, and then watching that post race interview. Not sure what the expectations were, Ferrari's statements today put them fully in support of their driver's action. What else would they say.
Talk about putting the sport in a bad light.

I GOT A DM FROM TED KRAVITZ ON TWITTER - it was this........ Ferrari were doing it - Mercedes 'grassed them up' hence bad blood between them. Cheers tkIt was in response to something I said in Twitter replying to him. He'd posted something like, ' could the road rage displayed by Vettel be in response to the oil burning situation?' He'd linked an article but I didn't have time to read the link. I replied...' I though it was Ferrari doing the oil thing? Vettel road rage was because of his indiscretion behind Hamilton. ' So there we have it. Ferrari were doing the oil stuff. From someone in the pit lane, in the know. And I see certain groups of the Tifosi ,not all I hasten to add, just the more deluded fringe, the rabid Hamilton Haterz, saying it was Mercedes doing it. The same groups of deluded continue to excuse Vettel, ' he was brake tested' 'He didn't mean to hit him' ' he only touched him gently from the side' ( I love that one.) This despite EVIDENCE that Hamilton did not brake. He was slightly slower accelerating as is his choice when he's controlling the pace. The start before he almost overtook the safely car, so probably mindful of that, he was slightly slower accelerating away. Perfectly within his right. I guess the deluded don't understand that telemetry doesn't lie but Whiney, petulant little boys do. Toto has actually come to Ferrari's rescue, amid widespread talk that Vettel may receive further sanctions ( was only saved from a DQ to keep championship alive - appalling). Toto has said, 'leave it now, its done'. I guess he knows that now that Ferrari can't do the oil thing they'll be easy meat. And that will be sweeter than Vettel getting what he deserved from the the stewards. Further sanctions still possible. Todt not happy with Vettel dangerous swipe and the stewards lenient response. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40402809

My flat response now to people saying "Hamilton provoked it" and "Id' do the same" is;
May you cut someone off on the way home and may that person then run you off the road, steal your money, burn your car, and leave you naked and tied to the tree. After all, you provoked it, so it's ok.

I'd guess some sort of moving average of both drivers telemetry?

I'd guess some sort of moving average of both drivers telemetry? I don't know, my guess would have been telemetry from the SC, but I don't like looking at charts unless I know what everything on it represents. in the bottom chart, the grayed out lines are actually other cars and you can see that some were going much faster, some were going slower and some were coasting. So I guess, like life, we have to keep an eye on the car in front of us.

Funny that Vettel was travelling faster despite Lewis being in the lead and dictating pace.... and note that burst of acceleration from Vettel before he has to slam on the brakes at the apex of 15.

So given the spirited conversation on everything else but the actual results, (Damn you Lewis and Seb) what about the F1 miracle of Daniel Ricciardo finishing the last four races with 3 podiums and a victory? War reading yesterday as to how Red Bull has now fallen below McHonda for mileage completed??? Even more of an F1 miracle considering that it's Verstappen that's seemingly getting all of the Red Bull ails. I like Verstappen as a driver, he's a racer through and through. I've also said plenty that he needs to mature as a person, I think life experience at the moment is teaching Verstappen quite a lot. It's not as if Reb Bull are going to suddenly turn their fortunes around with the "TAG" PU but it's setting things up nicely for next year. Both for him and the team.
