Whoop, whoop, A British GP thread! Must be getting close! I haven't had time to make a new flag this year, but I think there may be a few reminding Vettel not to deliberately drive into other cars. Surely Lewis is due a clean drive this race. Secure headrest, healthy gear Box and no red car turned missile. He's won here four times, three of them the last three consecutive years. Vettel has only had one win in 2009. So not Vettel's best track. I was pleased for Bottas getting his second win last race. He's proving valuable to Mercedes. Not on Lewis' pace when it's a do or die lap, but solid and well able to bring home the bacon. I have a feeling the Williams cars will do well. Why? Dunno, just a feeling. I'm off to work out my pole time and top ten now. In the meantime, seeif you can answer those three questions. 1. Which four tracks have hosted a British GP? {You should ALL know at least one!}Aintree, Brands Hatch, Brooklands, Silverstone 2. How many British drivers have won the British Grand Prix? {1,2,3,4 ( clue, its more than 4!)}12 8. What percentage of a lap at Silverstone do the drivers spend at full throttle? {Vroom! Vroom! }70%

I have a ball park figure in my mind and I'm discounting showers.......for now.
The menu. I have it loosely worked out. I'm still in Wales so it's going to be a bit more rushed this year. I'm going Thursday. My sister is cooking mine that night- Gambian prawns. In return I'm doing her starters for Fri and sat. Nikki arrives Friday. She wants things we've had before, so it's ....
Fri - ribboned courgettes, mozerella, Parma ham salad with lemon and olive oil dressing and mint leaves - monk fish and Parma ham kebabs, Cheesey potatoes patties ,
Sat- halumi cheese and cherry tomato kebabs - lemon and pepper chicken, Morroccan chicken, cous cous , veg kebabs.
Other stuff to be fitted around it. There's date slices, Nikki's bringing chocolate cup cakes, fruit, yoghurts, cookies, nice desserts, wine. Oh and nice bread and olives.

I'm wondering why Lewis skipped the London event? Especially since he's Brit and every other driver was there... I see a lot of flak on the net about this. Okay he's got his life, but it's not great PR when the race is around the corner is it. He could've used this event as momentum to help pile pressure on Vettel during the weekend. I dunno.

Yeah I keep my opinions based on what happens on track. Apparently throwing your car at another competitor is not as bad as skipping out on a PR stunt. At least we got the truth and not some lame excuse about being sick or something along those lines. That's balls, love it. We'll find out more on Sunday.

The entire second sector here is going to be insane, might be the best track so far for these new formula cars. Here's a snipit of Mercedes' view on things.

I love the Silverstone track, it's got some really nice corners, it's high speed and it's got several overtaking possibilities.

doesn't look as bad from a different angle, I think the reflection of the overhead lights is what makes those first pics horrible. As for Torro Rosso.... damn! At least cover your crappy knots with duct tape!

No it doesn't. Would like to see it on track. With him in the car it does look like it would provide a good bit of protection from loose pieces flying around a la Massa in 2009. It will do squat against some type of side impact where one car jumps/rides up onto the other.

Not keen on the Shield, don't like it, hate it. Although it does look better than the Halo and Red Bulls Aeroscreen.
