Interesting qualifying session. A well earned front row for Ferrari IMO, Mercedes on the back foot too much to be a factor, and I'm betting they'll find something wrong with Hamilton's car because you don't have three sets of tires vibrating. Tomorrow's race, it's Vettel's to lose.
Was hoping to see the Red Bulls more competitive but they were really not a factor Saturday when the speed counts.
McLaren in the top ten with both cars, how long has it been since that happened 2014 I'm guessing.
Vettel has been getting the worst starts of any of the leaders, let's see what happens off the line and into turn one. Wouldn't be surprised to see a SC after the first lap, tensions are going to be high.

Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if something was wrong with Hamilton's car but Mercedes definately went wrong with setup overnight, they appear to have improved their setup for qualifying.
If I am not wrong McLaren have been in the top 10 with both cars in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017...

London Grosjean has become a bit moany, maybe out of frustration. I still like Grosjean. He stated off in F1 a bit leery, then he calmed down and showed massive potential. And he hasn't really had the chance to take it forward. Perhaps he sees his opportunities slipping away? He should have stayed with Renault.

Finally, I missed a crappy qualifying session instead of a great one.

Going back to 2003 here, it's not all doom and gloom for non-Vettel fans!
Winner Started 1st - 2013, 2012, 2004, 2003 Winner Started 2nd - 2016, 2010, 2008, 2007 Winner Started 3rd - 2015, 2011 Winner Started 4th - 2014, 2009, 2006, 2005
HOWEVER... for those hoping for a Hamilton win, remember this little fact: 2004 was the last time the winner of the Hungarian GP went on to win the WDC.

We need some rain for the first 15 laps or this race is going to be lame AF.

Last driver to do it was a German driving a Ferrari though

Today's outcome doesn't matter. This was a must win track for Ferrari, and anything but would be a huge loss to them. The car advantage based on the circuit is going to swing back and forth a bit, but no result at the end of today's race will leave Hamilton worse off than he's been before.
A good race, and I'm happy.

Ferrari's advantage here at this track is way too big for this to be the true difference between Mercedes & Ferrari.
If their aero was that much better than Mercedes then we would have seen Ferrari dominate the Spanish GP, they didn't.
It's another one of those times that Mercedes this time also Red Bull have chased the wrong direction overnight; Mercedes & Red Bull only improved by 0.4 from Practice 2 to Practice 3. Ferrari improved by 1.6 seconds.
This is a track where both Red Bull & Mercedes should have been right at the top in a close battle with Ferrari for pole/the win.
The next 2 tracks are Mercedes style tracks, the one after that the next race where it should be a downforce orientated track.

I agree RyRy and the race unfolds, and track rubbers in, and cars wear, but this was always going to be a track that "took" from Mercedes. only 44% of the circuit is full on throttle that's why we've got both McLaren in the top ten. Ebb and Flow depending on the circuit.

No way will Ferrari switch their cars, why would they....Kimi is the perfect barrier between Vettel and his championship threat. If I were Kimi I wouldn't even bother lol

Vettel... meh..... yay Seb :/ kimi.... poor #2. he should have just done it! Lewis... Hats off, respect on that last corner move. Real gentleman. Alonso.... WOW. Fastest lap! Ummm errrr ok Max... I think the stewards were REALLY harsh on that one, it was unlucky to take Daniel out, but surely a racing incident. And on to the Summer holiday.

Love the class from Hamilton. The difference between a driver with number one contract status and a driver that just wants to be allowed the opportunity to compete. Nothing but class. Love it.

Thoughts....
- Hamilton lost massive amounts of time having a broken radio. - Raikkonen lost massive amounts of time being stuck behind his slower teammate. - Ferrari fucked over Raikkonen, that's not very kind. - Verstappen screwed Red Bull's race, they were looking decent with their race pace. 10second penalty lost them a chance of a podium/win. - Big props to Hamilton letting Bottas back through, lots of people were doubting Hamilton last time when Bottas let Hamilton through saying that he wouldn't return the favour, well that shuts them up.
If Vettel had let Raikkonen through, Hamilton would have won or at least came 2nd. Likewise if Verstappen didn't take out Riccciardo we could have seen them challenging for the win too.
ALONSO FASTEST LAP!!!! NICE ahahah
