You can actually feel the haters all morphing into Verstappen fans right now.

Lol Vettel manages to get f*cked up on the cooling down lap this time. Must be going for some sort of crash record.
Best part of this race is now Fonzi getting his ass kicked by another newbie at McLaren in the standings.

so possible 5 place gearbox drop for Vettel, possible 10 place TC drop for Kimi.... Ferrari aren't enjoying the 2nd half of the season so far!

- Hamilton confirmed that he could have closed the door and raced for the win but saved his engine. - Great race by Verstappen. - Great race by Ricciardio, managed to hold off Vettel in style. - Good race from Vettel, the fastest car so it was fairly easy to get past most drivers but as soon as he came upon Bottas or Ricciardo he couldn't overtake them even on better tyres. - Awful race by Bottas, he got a great start but then stagnated and ended up way over a pitstop behind Hamilton. - Good drive by Gasly, 14th isn't bad. - Great drive by Perez considering he's been unwell all weekend. - Fantastic drive from Vandoorne finishing 7th, very impressive considering the track has 2 very long straights.
Vettel is likely to need a new gearbox after the cooldown collision between Vettel and Stroll, not sure who's fault it is but it kind of looked like Vettel's fault.

Btw, shouldn't Vettel be due a race ban by now. The guy can't get out of his own way these days.

Okay, the dogs woke up at 2 am, hearing something outside and so I said, WTF, might as well get up and watch the race. Except the race was at 3 am. So I killed some time and saw Kimi's race go up in a turbo whoosh, felt bad for him because with the pace the Ferrari had he would have been massively competitive.
Verstappen drove a fantastic race, very controlled and he had load of pace, no one was going to touch him. Lewis ran a race for the percentages. He could have challenged for the lead but it simply wasn't worth the risk. In the end the car just wasn't there, the super softs just did not work on that car and he'd have had to push it beyond anything worth while. Saving the engine and consolidating and additional six points was the smart thing. Me however thinking it would rain, put him for the win. IMO Lewis was lucky to get second. Had Kimi run, he'd have been third for sure.
Ricciardo, defended from Vettel is a sublime way. He knew it was coming, he knew he had to save his tires for when the attack came and defend he did. I love that kind of racing don't know if he had the pace for overtaking Lewis, he tried but simply wasn't ever able to mount any kind of challenge in front, but man was he able to hold off the challenge from Vettel.
Vettel drove a great race, surprised they brought him in when they did, effectively negating any advantage he had from starting on the soft tires and in the end having to run so long on the super softs just wore through. He had one shot at Ricciardo and was not able to get a second, simply dropped off after that. Probably saving both car and engine and in the end all of the risk to gain three points simply wasn't worth it.
Inexplicable what happened at the end, did not see a shot of it other than the one shown in the world feed and it was hard to tell what happened because it was so quickly. I think both drivers might have been caught picking their noses but man that's a bizarre thing to occur post race.
I just got up since I went to be right after the race, need to coffee to lube up a bit and then I'll crunch the pool.
Oh, Bottas... it was painful watching him. Show how much more Hamilton was wringing out of that car, he had nothing for nobody. Mercedes really got it wrong this weekend and were phenomenally lucky to leave here extending both their championship leads.

Oh yeah, certainly well earned Driver of the Day for Vettel. He's got this race sewn up!

What an unusual race. I watched on a dicky internet ( one which had cost €30 for the week! And been completely unreliable) which failed just as Lewis crossed the line, so I only found out about the post race collision later. No further action I gather. What about removing wheel and going back on another car? Isn't that against the rules? Was there no penalty or points fir that?
Was going to say ( before the post race brain fart) great drives from the top 4.
Max- flawless. A well deserved win.
Lewis- a measured drive with an eye on the championship. To get second in the third best car was result enough. If anyone had offered him 2nd on Friday evening, with Vettel in 4th he'd have snapped their hand off.
Dan- defended well as he always does when Vettel had the opportunity to attack.
Vettel- fantastic recovery drive, then that weird loss of awareness after the line. Doing that a lot lately...not being aware of what's going on around.
And then Bottas. He really should have held Vettel behind him. He's slipping further from Lewis' performances. Perhaps the set ups were different? There was something about him having some new parts and Lewis reverting to the old? But as with Vettel's loss of awareness, it's not a one off.
Good save by Lewis this weekend after the cars on Friday. Ferrari were on for a one/ two.
Well done Gahstly! Well done Vandoorne! Shaded Alonso again.
And Grosjean,I used to like him. Gonna start calling him Groanjean now.
( I'm in Lanzerote now. Came over from Fuertoventura just after the race. Only have Internet in reception here, not in my room but will pop on when I can )

I'd like to see the on car view of both of them but given what you see from Vettel, Stroll doesn't even change his line, it's incomprehensible why Vettel would choose to be where Stroll was going to be for no apparent reason. It's just like what Webber said, Vettel seems to think his car ends at the back of his helmet.

Here's the angle I was looking for. Vettel really has to stop blaming everyone else when things go wrong for him. It's just embarrassing at this point.

Yep. I'd put that 90% Vettel's fault.
And the driving back on another car? Removing the steering wheel? Nothing? Didn't Lewis get points for reversing in the pitlane? After being told to do so by an official? So no points for Vettel for his infringement of the rules? Or are we still waiting? I won't hold my breath.
The thing with F1 is money rules. And it's all about the spectacle. The decision makers/ rule enforcers should be completely separated from the money machine. Each case should be jjudged on merit and whether you are a championship contender or not bears no relevance if you break the rules. I would hazard a guess that If Stroll had ended up with a crapped out car, and had driven back on another car after removing his steering wheel, he'd have received a penalty. Do I think drivers should receive a penalty for that? Personally no. But if you make it a rule, then apply it to every contender.

Verstappen win!, look forward to watching the highlights tonight to see how he did it, and the Stroll, Vettel incident.. WTF. Whats interesting is from reading the race report is that Vettel hitched a ride on a Sauber, now Webber got a reprimand for that when he hitched a ride back with Alonso back in 2013. Wonder if Vettel will get one for that.

Causes another collision after the race is over, takes away steering wheel (infringement), rides pillion on another F1 car (major safety infringement) - no further action warranted.
Hamilton reverses few meters in pitlane after being instructed by a STEWARD.....penalty.
Fucking joke.

racechick Reversing in Pit Lane was clear cut. Here, there is an argument for taking the steering wheel; it's post race and fans are likely to be invading the track any moment (have seen them strip parts before), as well as the fact that the whole "leave wheel" rule is to aid Marshals moving the car. This car wasn't moving anywhere except by crane. As for the hitching a ride, I really hope the new owners let this one slide, and let the rule quietly fall from the reprint next year. I used to like watching drivers getting a lift, adds a little bit of something. For the race itself; I actually found it a bit of a "meh" race. things happened, but none of it really held my attention. Great drive by Max for the win. Even though Lewis said post-race "I could have closed the door but had bigger things at stake", I really don't think he would have taken it even if he turned it all up to 11. Vettel drove well, albeit aided by the fact that every car he approached from 14th up was pulling in the pits so he got DRS without the worry about "hero" drivers holding him up. Hamilton did what he needed to do to keep ahead in the WDC. The more I watch him this year, the more I think he would have been a great driver in the 80's and 90's; he doesn't do more than he needs to and pulls those fast laps out at the right time. First lap glory and wins are nice, but the season is the long game.

Due credit to the joke of the past 3 seasons - Honda. No one noticed the kid in McLaren bring it home in 7th place and he wasn't very fortunate in anyway, the car deserved the position since even Stroll/Massa with a Mercedes had the whole race to displace him but couldn't.
It would be hilarious if Honda starts kicking ass next season with the Toro Rosso.
