Daniel is so damn funny, I loved the "between us we've got 8 world championships" bit, gave me a good chuckle! How is Hamilton always able to get up to speed so damn fast compared to other drivers, we see at so many tracks Hamilton able to go and straight away set a good lap time on his first lap; if not he'll at least set one or two purple sectors. In FP1 he set a fast lap very early on and it was only beaten near the end of the session after the track had rubbered in. In FP2 he set a fast lap very early on, followed by other drivers getting close to that lap time, followed by Hamilton going 0.8 faster on the next lap, other drivers tried to match him for 2~ laps but they were all 0.8~ behind, Ric eventually set a lap that was 0.4 behind. He's so natural at feeling the car and able to push straight away. I'd love to see a weekend where they get no practice and have to go straight out into quallifying. I'm certain we'd see Hamilton, Alonso, Verstappen and Ricciardo perform comfortably better than they do now.

Hey guys, been awol lately, work end of year stuff and working on cars that always have something that needs fixing, and raking leaves, and life in general. Tomorrow I'm not going to be around so I'll create the pool thread now. I'll be around race day thought.
Will catch up on a lot of stuff then, toodles.

Looks like a walk in the park for Lewis for the moment. The qualifying will be much cooler and the Mercedes loves low temperatures.
Bottas could have been much closer than Lewis but he lost maybe 1 or 2 tenth in the last sector after being on part with Lewis in the first sector and improve his personal second sector. Here is mistake and bosses reaction streamable.com/j2yx2
Apparently Ferrari is struggling with the rear tires (overheating) which compromises their last sector time. It means wrong setup. Giovinazzi didnt do his job well this time
Ricciardo never been beaten by his teammate at Yas Marina so lets see if he can keep it safe.
Ocon confirms that it has a hard time on circuits that require a lot of mechanical grip.
Q2 will be a nice one with the battle between McLaren, Renault and Force India.
I would like to see a Mercedes front row lock out with Kimi 3rd.

So cool to see the Mercedes burnouts on the main straight, real statement from them. What a great team, all around. Well done to Valtteri for beating Hamilton completely on merit.

Yeah, the race was boring as shit, but fantastic to see Bottas defending lap after lap against Lewis' relentless attacks. Difficult circuit to overtake on fun to see the Mercs set up to optimally run different segments. Great to see their battle, and Bottas drove like a man showing Mercedes that he's their guy to keep instead of looking elsewhere for 2019.
Great drive from Hulkenberg to earn Renault an extra twelve million bucks, not a bad day's work for him. This circuit sucks ballz, and I'd nominate it as the first circuit to be scraped from the current calendar, well sorry, Sochi is first, but this one too.
Let's move on to 2018 and to a new season, with hideous looking cars, hopefully the FiA will come to its senses... Moving on to bigger and greater records in 2018, Mercedes will still be the team to gun for, but Red Bull will be back and Renault is my dark horse team to be nipping at the heels of Ferrari for 3rd.
It's been a great season, with just the right amount of strife, and yet another season we can add to the list of supporting evidence about Alonso being right with the situation at Ferrari.
McLaren has been an embarrassment in a room full of embarrassed people, hopefully they can take a step into the mid field next year, but I've no mercy for those that willfully dig their own graves.
Liberty Media is the big question mark. I'm not sold yet, Ross Brawn in our only hope.

Watched on a really jittery site/ Internet. But hey, who’s complaining. I got to see it. Disappointed Ham couldn’t take it, but pleased for Bottas, he needed that. And that’s it folks , till next season...

Actually I am glad the season is over as Hamilton is no more in the game psychologically since Mexico imo.
FIA can ask F1 teams to built bigger powerful and quicker cars to improve whatever they wanted to improve like the show but at the same time they are not improving race tracks to make racing doubly better. Even a 6 years old would see that the regulation they made needed to be polished before being applied. Overall I would say that the season wasn't really great as a F1 fan. Too much procession.
Liberty Media is the big question mark. I'm not sold yet, Ross Brawn in our only hope. We will have to wait until 2021

The new logo sucks ass. All the options sucked ass.
The old one was a genius design. Many hard core fans still think the red marking on the old logo is the 1 in F1, when it isn't. It was always going to be tough to beat it.

It was always going to be tough to beat it. I was actually one of those ppl that didn't actually notice the 1 in the F1 logo till 2005 when my mate watched his first F1 race at my house and pointed it out to me. Agree about the new logo, the '1' could look more prominent for starters. Looks more like a logo that Force India should use.
