It's that time of year again! The release dates are starting to come in and it's not long until we start seeing the 2018 cars. We're losing the shark fin, losing the t-wing but we're gaining the halo, be that for the good or bad these will be the biggest changes. We will also be seeing some simpler rear wing endplates and bargeboards after McLaren and Ferrari submitted proposals which were accepted. Oddly enough Ross Brawn submitted a proposal to also simplify the front wing but that was met with some hostility from the teams and as such rejected. Australia is already starting to prepare for the first race of 2018! TEAM | DATE | Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport | February 22nd | Scuderia Ferrari | February 22nd | Red Bull | February 19th | Sahara Force India F1 Team | February 25th | Williams Martini Racing | February 15th | Renault Sport F1 Team | February 20th | Scuderia Toro Rosso | February 26th | Haas F1 Team | February 14th | McLaren Formula 1 Team | February 23rd | Sauber F1 Team | February 20th |
I know I can't wait to see the cars with the halo and I can't wait to see their solution for the camera mount issue, If they can fit some halo-riding camera that would be awesome to see as it'll be only a little higher than the drivers head but stable. Who's going to have the biggest change in livery? Who's going to have the biggest change in aerodynamics? Who's going to have the coolest launch?

Australia is already starting to prepare for the first race of 2018! Lies... there hasn't been 1 local article about residents complaining yet! We're in full Summer Holiday mode here! Beer, Cricket, Tennis, and plenty of sunshine! We don't kick into F1 mode till Fed wins and the English cricket team leave

I'm very very surprised Williams' launch date is a whole 7 days earlier than any of the big players. That seems pretty confident, I wonder if they are going to play a big dummy with something odd/crazy looking just to make teams focus on something else.

Okay muchachos, time to start thinking about F1 again for the year. Let's see how things pick up. Release dates announced, Alfa Romeo Sauber is going to be my favorite livery on the grid, I just know it.

a lot of Ferrari queues on the side pods there from Haas. Again! I'm impressed by their sidepods and bargeboards, if they can step it up that much over the winter then I hope the other teams have managed to step their cars up in even more significant ways. It does still have a t-wing just theirs is rather odd looking to what Williams & Sauber showed off.

Apparently Williams haven't actually got a car to show yet, instead they're showing renders: Interesting that just like Hass they've copied Ferrari's Sidepods & Bargeboards. They've also got a smooth halo with no appended aero fairings. They've got a low t-wing as expected. They've got some weird appended aero channels on the front wing which look interesting and the complexity of the front wing is much higher than their previous ones. Their bargeboards are very low and look like Mercedes' (Paddy Lowe influence? ) They've changed the airbox significantly just like Hass because of the changed airflow from the halo. A very interesting wing above the bargeboards that looks like with some adjustments it could be turned into a secondary wing. The coke bottle area looks decent, a good shape to the car and looks well packaged They've copied Mercedes' turning vanes on the nose of the car (Paddy Lowe again?)

The car looks decent but the driver lineup worries me. Man I hope Williams will be fast through the corners.

I think we're going to see a lot of copying the Ferrari sidepods of last year, it was the cars one genuinely innovative feature. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

They have no hopes in getting closer to the front if they built a car with last year Ferrari aero especially Haas. Not afraid for Williams at all development wise through the season.

Grosjean isnt going to perform with bad brakes, doesnt matter how good the car is. And Mag is Mag.

Is it normal that they dont have wastegate pipes ? From what I recall, it's part of the regulation, they can have waste gate pipes individually or integrated into the main exhaust. They are still there though, I think they have to be separate to a certain point, just that most teams decided to route them separately.

pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/965510335540203520/FvhhJYVq_400x400.jpgThoughts.... - Livery might be temporary... hope it's not because it looks very pretty and I like the change. - Most of the car looks the same, the nose, blown axles, front wing, turning vanes, barge boards, floor. - It's got the Ferrari style small sidepods just like the Hass & Williams, although Red Bulls look even smaller. - S-Duct further down the nose because of the halo disturbance. - No fairings on the halo. - Sidepod deflectors look similar to Mercedes which is surprising because they copied Ferrari's last year and I would have suspected they'd stick with that. If Red Bull have switched I can see Ferrari switching too. - Just like Williams & Hass, they've increased the size of the airbox because of halo disturbance. - They've disconnected the bargeboard from the sidepod and made them look like wings which looks very aggressive and makes the car look fast. - Currently there is no lower t-wing although that might come in or after testing, Hass & Williams both have the low t-wing and I wouldn't be surprised if all teams adopt this.
