Read somewhere the livery is temporary; Like their previous lauch liveries. We'll probably see it throughout testing. Red Bull gives you wings.

I wish it was the final livery. But this design does 2 things, it looks cool and it also helps hide the ideas well. Like what car manufacturers do with their test days, camouflaging their cars.

Compare 2017 and 2018 cars: www.motorsportweek.com/news/id/16961Gallery of color boosted pictures of the RB14, allows you to see much more of the details: imgur.com/gallery/WdAV6 Checkout that 360 camera! Leaked Picture of the Sauber: - First car with fairings on the halo! - Interesting wings on top of the sidepods that look pretty interesting with how they interact with the mirrors. - Again super small sidepods! - It has a really weird airbox on top of the car. - Most teams are going for the Ferrari style rear wing mounts too. - A very complex looking turning vane area, we need a closer and brighter picture! - A Mercedes & Toro Rosso style suspension. - The bargeboards look like they could be problematic in certain wind conditions. Well at least this year Sauber will succeed at something - looking good.

interestingly they're showing quite a bit of rear end, it's the one area most teams are hiding when they show off the cars. I think we'll see quite a few doodads in the halo but not for now. Given the sculping and working of vanes into the top on the Sauber, I expect many attempts at is from the grid.
I would have loved to see a bigger more graphic quadrifoglio on the car. Visually, it needs it.

I want to know what the bulge (looks like a duct) is on the sharkfin, that's probably the most interesting feature for me. Followed by how the airflow works with the sidepod wing + mirror, I can see that working nicely.

Interesting catch, I hadn't looked at it closely! Its a duct, probably more for blowing than for cooling. I'd be surprised if everyone doesn't show up to the grid with an a la Ferrari side ducts, it was their revolutionary find last year. Pushing more air into the sidepods increasing their efficiency without taking a drag hit. Alot going on with the Sauber. It's as if they had a lot of time last year to think about the 2018 car. I hope they turn a corner this year, damned Ericsson though.

They already have a huge airbox so yeah I highly doubt it's for cooling unless their packaging is much smaller than other teams and instead of just feeding air in at 1 location they've decided to split it into 2. I would assume it's some sort of way to stall the rear wing at high speeds

bingo.
I'm thinking blowing "hot" air into the area from the fin would help to lower the pressure. no so much stalling but the same effect the higher the speed the more hot air, the more downforce created

2017: 2018: - They've not changed a huge deal on their car really, they've added a lot more complexity to the bargeboard area but kept the same sort of styling. They've increased the size of the airbox - The sidepods are very aggressive in their shape and the whole sidepod area is very muscular looking, looks like the rear will work very well aerodynamically. - They've added a much bigger vertial separator on the nosecone to split the airflow before it hits the halo. - They have a completely different solution to the low t-wing design, most teams who have one have gone for a wide wing where as Mercedes have kept theirs sort of looking like a monkey seat - They've made a minor adjustment as far as I can see to the front suspension area with the raised arm being joined close to the wheel rather than a cm or two away from the joint, this should increase the suspension strength a little. - They've gone for the same as x with the sidepod wing running very close to the mirror

- Gone for a less complex looking bargeboard - Gone for a more complicated turning vane area - Added more complexity to the front wing with little parts being appended. - Comes with a fairing to the halo - Has a very interesting sidepod area, they've moved into a tri-split system and appear to also have some sort of airbox on the mirrors which is a very new idea. - They've got a mini-airbox under the main airbox - The main airbox appears very similar to their previous ones. - They've gone for a beautiful curved wing on the rear of the sharkfin
