Well done Seb... excellent driving! Karma repays Lewis, nice win. Heartbreak for Bottas. Excellent job by Perez, Sainz and Leclerc. I enjoy Baku. FYI: This puts Lewis Hamilton on 22 different Grand Prix (tied with Schumacher for #1) and well clear on 25 different circuit wins (2 ahead of Schumacher). It's also now officially his 12th consecutive season with a win.

The Red Bull incident just seemed inevitable, I was surprised it didn't happened earlier.

BAHAHAHAHAHA Grosjean bins it! Team "What happened? Gros "ummmm Ericson hit us!" Everyone watching "ummm no." This made me laugh. What an idiot. Okay on to Max, I've defended him for a long time saying it was youth and he'd catch on but man the kid is a fucking moron in a room full of morons. There comes a point when the FiA is going to slap him upside his head. Red Bull as spinning it but there is a rule against moving twice and he moved twice, they should use this as the very definition of moving twice. Ricciardo must be livid that they're giving him the Mark Weber treatment now. Mercedes us struggling to get heat into the tires, it's their big issue, power they actually may be down a hair or just about even with Ferrari but the Ferrari is clearly the best car on the grid and Mercedes so far don't have an answer for it. Vettel being greedy coupled with not knowing where his limit is loses his championship lead, and Bottas... I could see the debris and saw when he ran over it and said to myself, how did he not see that? Well I don't think I have a single point in the pool after having the top four right for the majority of the race.

Yeah, I saw the debris as he approached and thought "oh dear.. Lewis is going to get a puncture now"... right call, wrong car. Vettel just over cooked it. Slipstream + tailwind + unsighted + cold tyres was ALWAYS going to be a problem slowing down. Frankly, he was lucky not to hit the wall.
As for Max.... he didn't move "In the breaking zone" so it was ok. Seems that as he grounded (you saw the sparks) it cuts ALL downforce from the front of Dan's car which is why he locked up. Did he break a bit early? Maybe. Should they have been a little smarter? 1000% yes. I usually am happy to pick a driver to blame, but on that one at MOST you could say 51/49.

Seems Red Bull aren't blaming anyone in particular, Well not to the media, behind closed doors, who knows. One thing is that Horner and Marko seems pretty piss off at both parties and both will be giving a apology to all Red Bull staff at Milton Keynes.
As for the incident, IDK, both to blame but maybe a little bit more towards Max, In the end its just a racing incident but a costly one for RB. Think Red Bull shot themselves in the foot today with letting the drivers race but at the same time I applaud Red Bull that they let their drivers races. Its just painful when shit like that goes down.

Was interesting watching this race without English commentary because you arent swayed by the commentators views. On the other hand you miss some of the details that aren’t obvious just by watching, like...how did Ricciardo lose time to Verstappen after overtaking him on track and pitting first? Anyone? On the Red Bull smash , I was saying ‘ he’s weaving’ , just before they hit. Ric certainly came in hard but I place most of the blame for that on Verstappen. ( Natny on the others hand, who is more of a Ric fan, blamed Ric. ) When your overtaking on a track like that, you have to trust the person you’re overtaking to play fair. I bet if Ricciardo had been overtaking Hamilton, Bottas, Raikonnen , he’d have hit past because the other guy would have played fair......not so sure Vettel would have played fair. Grosjean Gutted for Bottas. Yes Lewis got lucky yesterday, but he’s had pretty bad luck in the other races. On the other hand yo7 could say he was the second fastest driver and the fastest one screwed up, so fair win. Nice to see Mercedes getting the strategy right for once! Just rotten luck Bottas hit that debris. Good race though, good race!

how did Ricciardo lose time to Verstappen after overtaking him on track and pitting first? Due to the nature of the track and the falling temps, cars that pitted first really struggled to get tyre temps up enough on the out lap and as a result they lost time to cars still on track (even with worn tyres). Lewis lost 11s to Bottas in his first 6 laps on fresher rubber. Vettel took 3 laps to even start matching Bottas' times after his stop. So by staying out, Max was able to pull back the time he was behind Dan, and then get ahead.

I'm just back from Vietnam...watched the first lap in the hotel room and when the SC came out I went out for dinner. Came back much later and found out it was an awesome race. Gonna watch the full thing tomorrow.
BTW seeing the RB incident I think a lot of people are unfairly blaming Verstappen fully. Yeah he was moving around a bit but he always had the inside line covered. I don't know why Ricciardo forced the issue when the outside was wide open. Both to blame but I'd still blame Ricciardo more for that one since he locked his brakes and caused the accident.

In the moment, when watching it as it unfolded, I was very aware that Max Verstappen was weaving like crazy. And that's my opinion on it still.
Hamilton and Merc were damned fortunate with their victory, but this continues the theme of an amazing, unpredictable season in which 3 different teams have won the first 4 races. Brilliant!

I'm going to take a guess... 2018 won't be anywhere near as interesting as 2017. I suspect it'll be fairly boring however the long long straight should help with the overtaking issues that we've spotted numerous times so far this season. Re. your prediction about an un-interesting and boring race... glad you were wrong! This circuit is gaining a reputation for producing some cracking races.

Article 20.3: More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted. Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off‐line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner.
At some point people will stop defending Verstappen for being dirty when someone tries to overtake him. It's been his trademark in the sport. He's very talented, but he's not learned a thing and the team coddling him publicly yesterday is only going to lead to more of the same.
Worse of all, I think they just made sure Ricciardo signs for Mercedes or Ferrari.
And speaking of Ferrari. After Vettel's lock up I was thinking to myself, how is Ferrari going to make Kimi give Seb the position back? The only thing that saved Kimi was Perez nipping Seb for fourth making the attempt at a switchback unsavory. Do I sound conditioned to the practice?
