Very interesting qualifying today. This track is so much about the car and so much less about the drivers. Everyone has experience here, everyone is familiar withe all of the nuances and teams have more data for this place than they know what to do with.
I think the fastest strategy for tomorrow is clearly Soft>Medium without a safety car, everyone is going to be doing a one stopper. This could be an absolute bore fest tomorrow and it's likely that whomever is ahead by the third lap will win the GP.
I think that the Red Bulls still have the race pace, but track position is so critical here.

Interesting observation someone took the time to highlight. Top speed isn't all encompassing of engine performance but given the typical teams making the typical "bumps" through qualifying. We know Red Bull's party mode can't hang with Ferrari and Mercedes, but in this case the difference of which drivers turn up the wick in which part of the Q session tells a lot about the general performance when the wick isn't set to "party mode".
1. Here were drivers top speeds after Q1: s7.postimg.cc/97nrqd5m3/ersdfgh.jpg 2. After Q2: s7.postimg.cc/u2048fkmj/aryasy.jpg 3. And after the Q3: s7.postimg.cc/maje9nizf/affhgaheh.jpg

Good to see Merc back on song again. Hope they get good starts tomorrow and control the race.
I find myself wishing Magnussen can be more consistent, I really like his style. Also the fact that a lot of other midfield drivers are picking and bitching about him, the more I hope he does well this season.

I'm heading out to Philly to drop my daughter and her boyfriend back. They were here for a surprise mother's day visit. I'll watch the race in a few hours, don't anyone spoil it for me!
My picks are in.

Well that was a pretty sweet race, finally a Mercedes 1-2 in a long time and no ferraris on the podium. My kind of F1 weekend.

Well that was a pretty sweet race, finally a Mercedes 1-2 in a long time and no ferraris on the podium. My kind of F1 weekend. You know all that can change in Monaco. Renault will be quick there and Mercedes have struggled in the new era. Ferrari last year with a 1-2, I think it's Red Bull's to lose though.

I just realized 17 point lead for Vettel after Bahrain has swung to a 17 point deficit. I hope he can keep his head focused, he doesn't handle not winning well and then starts to creep into desperate territory. There's got to be so much pressure at Ferrari this year, knowing they've got "the" car.
This tire thing is all smoke (nod to Grosjean) after this weekend reliability is what's worrisome.
Three French speaking Grand Prix coming in a row. Is that a record?

Apparently Ferrari invited crying Kimmy kid back this year as their guest. Next year, let him stay home. The kid's obviously cursed.

So Ferrari ran the NORMAL pirelli tyres in testing, and said the right call was made to use thinner rubber for the race and that even with the normal ones, they would have been around the same place. The standard tyre had massive blistering due to the new surface, something which was seen during winter testing.

The tires looked like this in testing the following day. Funny though how it was an entire weekend of bashing Pirelli for secretly colluding with Mercedes to help them in their struggles, but now not a peep from the same people regarding allegations that Ferrari has been using an illegal battery system all year.

Yup, if it's true..... Loopholes are part of F1... but deliberately bypassing a sensor and manipulating wires is a MASSIVE breach.
