Hamilton VS Vettel in the USA
Lewis Hamilton: * Has raced 7 times in a USGP, winning 6. * Has won 5 of the 6 races held at COTA. (4th in 2013) * Has won the last 4 USGP races. * Has only had 3 USGP poles (2017 & 2016 at COTA, 2007 at Indy).
Sebastian Vettel: * Has taken pole twice at COTA (2012 & 2013) * Is the only driver to have beaten Lewis Hamilton at COTA (2013). * Has taken Fastest Lap in 5 of the races held at COTA (exception 2015) * Has finished on the podium in 4 of the 6 races at COTA.
The Others at COTA: * Daniel Ricciardo Has finished on the podium twice (3rd in 2016 & 2014) * Kimi Raikkonen Has finished on the podium once (3rd in 2017) * Max Verstappen Has raced here 3 times, 4th 2017 / DNF 2016 / 4th 2015 (for Torro Rosso) * Valtteri Bottas Has never finished higher then 5th (2017 for Mercedes / 2014 for Williams)
General: * Nobody has won at COTA from lower than 2nd on the grid. * Lewis Hamilton is on a streak of 4+ wins for the 5th time in his career. 5 is the most he has ever strung together. * Lewis Hamilton is 1 behind Sebastian Vettel on "Most GP's lead Start to Finish and 5 behind Senna. * (Incase Lewis clinches his WDC here) Lewis Hamilton has NEVER won a race once he clinches the WDC title.

As if things weren't bad enough for Vettel already, looks like a supremely wet qualy session. Look for the usual good wet weather drivers to be sitting further up the grid Sunday.

Ladies & Gentlemen... 30 mins to go in FP1. Looks like Hamilton is pretty damn good in the wet!

Vettel is showing how Germany happened.

Looks like Vettle will have a 3 place grid penalty for not slowing when that red flag came out in Q1. Already a precedent this season for that infringement, 2 drivers penalised.

Man Vettel must feel like a yoke. He screwed up last season with his stupid crashes and now this season even more famously.
In a way it's a bit of a dampener, all that hype of two 4x WDCs head to head is now just evaporated into smoke. Smoked by Hamilton's raw talent.

What's he done this time. Speeding during a red flag in FP1. Of course he didn't do it and of course the penalty system is broken according the him. I'm not sure how much of this is Ferrari and how much of this is Vettel but man, I have to go re-evaluate my Alonso/Ferrari conclusions given the fact that it simply seems like a salted earth environment over there.

Now I’m just wondering something regarding the pool. If I submit my picks via the F1 poo” butt9n in the black bar. Will it get mixed up with last race picks? Or will it stay separate?

They're date/time stamped so we'll know which came when.

Vettel, arrogant to the last, believes he did slow down enough for that red flag.
At the end of the day, when asked by Sky F1 if he slowed enough for the red flag, the German replied simply, “Yes.”
He clearly thinks his judgement of the situation is superior to the other drivers on the track and the officials who assessed the need for the red flag in the first place. He goes in to argue his case....
, “They were very specific and said it was 27.7 seconds to slow down. I saw the red flag and slowed down. They found I took too long. I think there might have been an issue with the timing.”
“I think there should be common sense with the rules. Saying 27.7 seconds as not saying I complied with the rules… I slowed down, I had a good look around what’s going around. The rules are clear as well so we know.” “I think it’s the first time we’ve had this in wet and in wet the target is a lot slower so I literally had to stop to 30kph or 40, 50kph to bring down the delta which probably I should do next time.”
“In my opinion it’s not the right thing if there’s a car behind might run into you but it’s more important that you don’t get a penalty,” added Vettel with a shrug.
So he had a look round and assessed for himself and decided it was safe not to slow down to the required speed. What if there’d been an accident round the next corner and a medical ream were working on a driver? His arrogance is breathtaking.
Why not just say something like. ‘ I have to put my hands up, I got it wrong, for that sake of safety we must all obey the red flag rules. I’ll be more diligent next time’.

#Crashtel is feeling intense guilt with how he's thrown 2 Championships away in the last 2 years, and covering it up with his smiles and "who cares" attitude, so you can expect this sort of BS from his mouth...it's all part of the fake arrogance covering up all that guilt and self-hate inside.

WATCH THIS!
The Ferrari is still clearly the faster car. I believe a lot of the issues they've been having since Spa have been due to the hypersofts more than anything else. It accelerates faster and has a higher top end than the Mercedes. This was a pole that Mercerdes was not supposed to get. Toto's reaction after qualifying was pretty clear.

Probably one of the very best new generation circuits this one. Looking forward to the race, although would have preferred Seb starting from 2nd, for the sake of the championship "battle". However, once again, he only has himself to blame... sigh...
