Well not a good start to the season in any way. Charlie was a fixture, a constant. He may not have always made decisions during races that made sense to everyone, or consistent, especially in the last 4 years, but he was there.
He played a huge part in all aspects of F1, from track layout and approval, to safety, to technical and sporting rules. And he did it all with a smile. He'll be pretty hard to replace. I see FOM assigning a committee to fill the roles, and we all know about the committee designed horse.....
Yes , one of the nice guys. Sad news. Maybe he played it a bit safe sometimes in rain etc, but better that way than the other. And I never say him showing favouritism to a team or driver as some of them in power do. He’ll be hard to replace.
