Charlie Whiting Dies, aged 66Well not a good start to the season in any way. Charlie was a fixture, a constant. He may not have always made decisions during races that made sense to everyone, or consistent, especially in the last 4 years, but he was there. He played a huge part in all aspects of F1, from track layout and approval, to safety, to technical and sporting rules. And he did it all with a smile. He'll be pretty hard to replace. I see FOM assigning a committee to fill the roles, and we all know about the committee designed horse.....

Yes , one of the nice guys. Sad news. Maybe he played it a bit safe sometimes in rain etc, but better that way than the other. And I never say him showing favouritism to a team or driver as some of them in power do. He’ll be hard to replace.

To clarify my likes are for your positive words about him, not his death It's horrible seeing pictures of him just the day before looking so well and happy.
