Hey All,
Firstly how good is your vision?
For me for example my right eye is decent, it's far from perfect but I can see clear enough it's just at long distance where I start to struggle, I can't make out detail at distance (reading road signs for example, unless I wear contacts/glasses). My left eye on the other hand is useless, with glasses or without it's pathetically bad. If I close my right eye my left eye can't read anyything regardless of the text size. It can make out shapes, I can the difference between everything, plug in cables but everything is blurry so I detail is impossible to work out.
I know from my opticians and from going to see about laser eye surgery that if I was to lose vision in my right eye, I would be considered legally blind as it would severely limit what I can and can't do. I would qualify for the Paralympics, I can't read any of the letters on a vision chart with my left eye so I know already my vision is over 1.0 in LogMAR which qualifies me for B3, so based on the fact that regardless of the letter size I still can't read it but I can make out shapes like a hand in front of me I would fall into the B2 classification.
It's funny, I do think I would be safe enough for cycling (without a guide) but for some reason they don't allow it, granted I couldn't see potholes or the lines that clear but I'd be fairly safe.
If your vision became severely impaired (loss of one eye + extremely poor eyesight) what sport(s) do you think you'd be good at for the Paralympics?
For me, I would choose either Triathlon (Swimming would be my weakest leg but my athletics (Running or Long Jump) and cycling would make up for it), Athletics, Cycling or Rowing
What about you guys/girls? Any of you good at swimming? athletics, rowing, equestrian... etc??
