First set of used tires Mercedes were 1 second and 0.7 seconds faster than Ferrari/Williams. Fresh set of tires from Riccardio was a 1:33.8 which was P2.
Hamilton's end of lap comment "Tires didn't feel too bad on that lap, but it wasn't a very good lap" <-- ouch!
Rosberg was 6tenths slower than Hamilton, that makes 4 poles in a row by Hamilton and also Well done to Ferrari and Vettel out-qualifying Rosberg.

4 straight poles by King Lewis.
Nico said he was watching reruns of last year's race to get an advantage, it seems he was aiming to beat his 2014 pole time and he's done that....so mission accomplished for Rosberg.

Hamilton should help Rosberg out at the start tomorrow by going straight to give Rosberg a bit of a toe and then veering left to push out Vettel. They are in a good position to put themselves in a 1, 2.
If I was Vettel, I would actually prefer to be in P3 because it's easier to position behind the squabble for P1/P2.

Forgot to congratulate Hamilton on his first pole at this track.
Hamilton could be slightly slower in the first stint due to eating a little more of his race tires in Q2.

Is Nico crumbling? He's the only one out of place on the grid, a WILLIAMS is only 0.2s slower than a Mercedes!! And this is Nicos track.
This guy should take a look at the back of Lewis' helmet and tattoo those words on his forehead of smth, this sort of pace looks almost like a mental breakdown. More than HALF a second slower than his teammate, and he's the one who got the POLE trophy last season!

Hamiltons been throwing in a bunch of subtle stabs at Rosberg he just said.
"Qualifying is intense with other drivers just as quick, erm, or atleast in the same car"

I saw Nico shake Lewis' hand there too. Lewis shook Sebs and then Nicos. Anyway, no matter.
Anyone else found the PC pretty funny? Nico's sour face reminded me of Melbourne and the verbal war between him and Vettel... Nico saying "I hope they're closer to us for the show"...and 3 races later he's sitting in Vettel's place looking pissed off.
Lol

Not seen the press conference yet, but it is pretty ironic that it was such a short time ago that nico was welcoming a challenge from Vettel and Ferari. He probably feels a bit silly about that now and hopes Vettel doesn't bring it up.

Lewis and Alonso once again showing the difference between all the excellent drivers on the grid and the exceptionally great drivers
That quali result should add another few mill to Lewis' wage demand
Put it this way, if there were 2 Buttoms in the Macca and 2 Nicos in the Merc (or Bottas/Ricc/etc) we would all be saying Ferrari had overtaken Merc and that McLaren were going backwards
On live timing it was almost like a game simulation watching Lewis purple each sector

Very excellent qualifying session. I keep liking Sainz over Verstappen and today he had his qualifying game on. Those two guys are really good both Verstappen with excellent feel for the limits of the car and Sainz has good race craft. With Nasr's performance and the way Sauber has been solid Rookie of the Year honors will be a genuine fight this year.I'm so happy about that.
Anyone that's sitting on the sidelines complaining about how the sport sucks is doing so because they're having a hard time watching the guys up front win instead of their man/team.
On the race tomorrow, given what I saw today and the long runs in FP2, the Ferrari threat is legit but I think the Merc will be too much for them in the end. Ferrari have had a heck of a time with the harder compound tires and I think they'll suffer with it again tomorrow.
Kimi's got a seriously flat spotted set from his Q2 session which is going to hurt him I'm sure. It all boils down to race pace but IMO without a DNF it's what the finishing order after Hamilton will be because the guy looked bulletproof today.
EDIT: forgot to add, Hulkenberg with a stellar push today. I think Bahrain is flattering the Fi but regardless, it's good to see them in Q3 and both him and Perez will be fighting for midfield points with Sauber and Toro Rosso.
