Rumours abound regarding the delay in the signing of Hamiltons contract with Mercedes. Lewis says its a nuisance, but no biggy. He and Mercedes he says are committed to each other, it is just a case of toing and froing over little details. Lewis has nrpehotisted this contract himself, for the first time though he obviously has lawyers reading and checking it. He is also reading every part if it himself. Whether it is just a time consuming excercise or there is a little sticking point remains tone seen. Jenson Button has an opinion. Jenson thinks Lewis risks blowing his contact by not signing quickly. He thinks that because Mercedes are the dominant team they don't need Hamilton as the other driver could still win for them. How short sighted of Button! It it sounds as though it's a three year deal thats being worked on, about 30 mil a year. That would put Lewis at Merceds for the best part of four years. No one knows whether Mercedes will remain dominant for four years. If Ferrari continue to improve and McLaren Honda fulfil their promise, in a couple of years it could be an equal three way fight. That's when Hamilton will really earn his money. That's when he can eke an advantage over a competitor. Ferrari with Vettel and a fast youngster. Mclaren with Alonso and Mags or Vandoorne. mercedes with What... a Rosberg and a Button type pairing? Because they don't need a top line driver? And where would Lewis go if Mercedes thinking was inline with Buttons and they decided not to bother contracting him? Ferrari? Mclaren? So Mercedes could then be facing vettel and Hamilton at Ferrari or Alonso and Hamilton at McLaren....and they'd have no established top line champion in the team ' because they don't need it'. wasnt it Button who also said Lewis was mad to consider leaving McLaren for Mercdes?? www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formula-1/lewis-hamilton-risks-blowing-90m-5487811www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/lewishamilton/11525476/Chinese-GP-2015-Lewis-Hamiltons-contract-issues-with-Mercedes-cast-shadow-over-upcoming-F1-race.htmlHe also suggests there is mega offer on the table from Ferrari which lewis would be mad to consider.

Oh the arrogance that comes bundled with all of that "passion".

Another day, another dollar
Looks like Lewis is smarter than we thought, and his main target is not merely mo money or number 1 status, but his third WDC. What better way to ensure your team do everything possible to make sure you win than to resist signing till the WDC is in the bag!
Alonso never worked out that trick in his whole career!

Hmm...title is kinda provocative. "Lewis not worth 100 mill" - Nico, but he did put it in a nicer way than that. Also it looks like Wolff is running out of patience...if his words weren't taken out of context.

Well, the Ferrari team boss is totally dismissing Lewis as value when he has Vettel. And he goes as far to infer Lewis is old. Arrivabene— "Why do I need Lewis Hamilton when I have a heavyweight like [Sebastian] Vettel? I would rather look around for a young, talented driver to unite with Sebastian." An ounce of success this short season and the bullshit starts flying.

Probably talking like that because he has no chance of snapping up Lewis anyway....the Ferrari fanclub will never allow it (for reasons you might know), and the fact that they'd prefer to stick with what they have now - a no.1 and no.2 driver. It's the way they run their sh!tho.., err stable anyway.

Oh yeah! So why didn't Ferrari sign up Bianchi when they had the chance? He was a talented young driver. Instead they went for the oldest driver on the grid!( roll eyes smilie) or is that Button? Both well older than Lewis though!

The "heavyweight like Vettel"...that's the part that amused me. The heavyweight that was hammered by his team-mate last season. What does that Make Ricci then? I think Lewis will make him pay for those remarks.

The 'heavyweight' that was trounced in the last race by his teammate who cant even be botthered to get off the toilet to go and race half the time
Lets see what happens when Ferrari are forced to come to Sebs rescue like RBR did when he was barely matching Webber

To be fair he needs to try and dress up Seb who cost more than Alonso plus Kimi combined, otherwise its gonna be hard to explain how comes Kimi who was whipped silly by Alonso is matching Seb closely So ofcourse Seb is a heavyweight lol

Maybe that's what Ferrari will now be known for...being a desperate brand and team. What a shame.

Well, can't win em all. Lewis is probably one of the best (if not the best) at setting up a car in the paddock the way he likes it, so maybe he was just of his game on the Friday. The car was reliable so it's not like he had much stopping him from getting the car right.

Lewis Hamilton signs new three-year deal with Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton has renewed his contract with Mercedes for three more years, meaning the reigning world champion will stay at the team until the end of 2018.
Negotiations dragged through the winter and into the start of this year, but on Wednesday in Monaco Mercedes finally confirmed the news. The deal is reported to be worth $100 million over three years, keeping Hamilton among the best paid drivers in Formula One.
"Mercedes is my home and I couldn't be happier to be staying here for another three years," Hamilton said. "This is a company filled with real passionate racers, from the board room to the factory floor, and an incredible hunger to win. Even after the success of last year, that hunger is greater than ever - and it's the same for me, too.
"The Mercedes car I am driving right now is the best I have ever had in my career; it's just so much fun to be out there every weekend, on the limit and fighting to win at every track. Mercedes-Benz began supporting me in 1998 so I am very proud that this contract means I will mark 20 years with Mercedes in 2018."
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff added: "Continuity is one of the key factors for delivering success in Formula One and we now have that in place. Lewis enjoyed an historic World Championship season with Mercedes-Benz last year and it was a priority for this season to renew his contract for the next term. We have taken the right amount of time with the process and not rushed ourselves.
"The result is a strong agreement that will enhance Lewis' association with the Mercedes-Benz brand, and that recognises and respects the market value of Lewis and of Mercedes in Formula One. Lewis' sporting track record speaks for itself and he is a great personality for the company. Personally, I am looking forward to continuing to race with the strongest driver pairing in Formula One and to more historic achievements together."
