Yes I read that article. No one wanted Button. Well, well, well. It gives Vandoorne a very good write up, and he was impressive at Silverstone, pulled big lead over the field. What a decision for McLaten over those two young men(Mags and Vanddorne) . They both deserve a racing seat, but only one can have it.

I see the Fonz solving the problem for them and taking a hike to Le Mans end of this year. And Button will of course talk about "continuity, experience, blahblahblah" but hopefully RD has the good sense to put on a pair of studded boots and give him a hard kick out the door. Two young drivers is not a bad thing when your car is going to be $HIT anyway, and you're saving tonnes of money on salary, and the two drivers are going to be real hungry to prove themselves no matter what $HITBOX they're driving.
McLaren can save a bucket load of cash, continue their development program, with their development drivers. When the car is ready to win/dominate, Lewis (5X WDC) is available to bring back the titles in his swansong years.

Lewis will almost certainly be 6x WDC by the time he finishes his Merc contract. If McHonda have sorted out their issues by then it would be a handy record breaking paycheck + gentle pre retirement deal. Unless a new player has entered such as Porsche/Audi he would have to choose between big money + romance at Ferrari or McHonda. Seb depending on how he did against Ricc at Ferrari will have already signed up somewhere the year before.
If I was Lewis I would start priming those 2 teams to compete against each other on a ridiculously massive and excessive wage plus outrageous diva like demands and perks (maybe stuff like he doesnt even have to turn up for the race weekend till Sunday morning)
Maybe he could even sign up with both teams, tke 2 wages and drive alternate races for each (ok, perhaps I am getting a little carried away now lol)
