Yeah, and in that race, the Maseratis were behind and guess which team was massively undeperforming, with everyone saying they are just going thru a rough patch?
Funny thing is, if Merc hadnt quit GR racing and stayed the course like Ferrari, chances are that they would have dominated pretty much every year and every era unlike Ferrari who only did real dominating in the MS/Todt/Brawn era
What would have happened after 3 decades of Mercedes 1/2/3/4 and 1/2 finishes

Compare the difference between Daimler AG vs Ferrari in revenue and it's something like 100billion vs 2billion so Mercedes could essentially throw money at it like no tomorrow in order to dominate the sport, also Mercedes can call upon Tesla for battery tech if needed as Daimler hold 10% of the shares in Tesla Motors.
If I remember rightly they also hold a nice share in the whole Renault–Nissan Alliance, which still is rather confusing because they are working along side Ford and Infiniti to produce cars is Mexico mainly for the South of America... that's a weird mix for an alliance.

Actually Daimler sold out their Tesla holding........because of conflict of interests as they now have a Tesla bashing subsidiary, they still have supply contracts with Tesla but have started outflanking them and bringing out their own stuff like home battery power packs in direct head to head
smart boys in Stuttgart
The whole car industry is now all about partnerships and shared part bins and shared platforms and tech linkups, almost every one is part of a giant mashup nowadays as its too expensive to stand alone when you can share costs. Soon we will have Toyota, Daimler, VW and a couple other giants
Ofcourse electric, solar etc is the possible game changer an they will b looking to own all that as well

They didn't sell all of their holding, they sold a portion of their tesla shares.
I wish I had a ton of shares in Tesla, Elon is seriously kicking some ass in the tech industry lately. You think he's trying to manage several huge things, SpaceX, Tesla Cars / Batteries... etc, Hyperloop, "SolarCity" farms with his cousins which are all huge tasks in themselves but then as well as doing all of his university talks, pr stuff, lobbying certain things, every day life.

On this date in 1926... The first British Grand Prix, won by the French pair Louis Wagner & Robert Senechal, was held at Brooklands in Surrey. PS Double gates that were at the entrance to Brooklands are at Silverstone now, at the entrance to the BRDC...
