hammer, You realise that Lewis and Nico have been friends much much longer than Lewis and Vettel have, it'll turn sour mid way through the year, can't have 2 winners getting on perfectly. The best relationship was undoubtedly Lewis and Button but they weren't in the top, winning car. I doubt Vettel will join them, I see Wherlin or however you spell it joining them or perhaps Verstappen if he isn't already taken by a top team. Mercedes would definitely want both of them for sure but I doubt they'll get. We don't need them to be friends, I was referring to the basis of Merc considering Vettel to replace Nico. Merc are aiming to improve the (their) show ever year, after 2 years of flatlining (1 driver kicking the other into the ground) I'm thinking a big change will be needed and Vettel is the obvious one. Their junior drivers like Wehrlein could use 2 years at least in their B team in Manor. 1 year won't come close to cutting it, everyone knows Lewis will kill whichever junior driver joins them in 2017.

I'm getting more convinced about the new Lewis/Seb partnership for Merc come 2017. Not only would that make Merc even stronger, it will be a huge red slap in the face for Ferrari. My reasoning for this move: - People are already pissed off because Nico has failed to 'bring it' this year - Next year is Nico's last chance to 'bring it', and if Merc lead the field again (which is likely) he's going to look exposed as a dud - Merc will be under pressure to bring some competition in the front from 2017, disposing an about-to-be 4x WDC won't do it - What about the other guy who's a 4x WDC, a purebred German (not a confused one), gets along well with Lewis and will bring a big fanbase along with him - On paper they will be fielding 8x Championships and the competition will be fierce. Headlines are all about 'Who's first to 5x?' Wolf just said a Lewis/Seb partnership would be legendary. Nico is fading away bit by bit in Wolff's post race comments, and Lewis hasn't even wrapped up the WDC yet. It would be one hell of a show, Seb is no Nico. I like it!! Just need someone to make happen! You only need two drivers to make a race interesting and enjoyable and Nico isn't doing his part, I look at Moto GP, its very similar to F1 at the moment, You have 2 works Yamaha's upfront dominating but at least Rossi and Lorenzo put on a great race and have great battles at most races whereas Mercedes do not have that with their driving pairing. Its always going to be Lewis in a cakewalk. If someone else was in Nico's seat, The sport would be in a better place.

Because of the additional stability this year, I've been able to focus more on the details, inner workings & dynamics of the Mercedes driver situation. Whether it's Toto and Wolf's expression when the camera pans over to them or just what's happening on track, the relationship between Lewis and Rosberg is very predictable when you take away the noise.
Rosberg would be a two time WDC would Hamilton not be his teammate. There is no dispute about that, it's unfortunate for him, but that's how it is. He can cover Lewis for Qualifying or he can set up for improved race pace but it seems he's unable to cover both. The streak of Lewis qualifying wins when Rosberg himself said that to counter Lewis' race pace last season, he'd focus more on his pace is proof of that. Now four in a row for Rosberg after being nowhere (granted two of those have been non contested) when Rosberg once again switches gear and having given up on pace, he's looking to lead from the front and leaving the door open for race pace. It's a frustrating situation for him to be sure.
Lewis on the other hand has one weakness and that weakness is inherent is how he likes/sets up his car. He is and has always been a rear bias braker. Inherently that gives the car a little instability during braking but it's what allows him to late brake. It's where he consistently makes up pace. Unfortunately that means that he's not like Vettel for instance. Vettel can right off the bat put in fast times at the start of the race. It was the trademak Red Bull win for him. Being out of DRS range by the second lap and running away with it from there. Because Lewis likes rear bias, he's got a little more trouble getting the fronts up to temperature, meaning understeer. He doesn't really come alive until the third or fourth lap and begins to chisel away time from there.
It's like clockwork to watch this stuff take place when there are no extraneous circumstances to mask what's going on.

Hamilton feels that Mercedes have to be extra warm to Rosberg behind the scenes . When asked to elaborate he says...'I know what I mean but I'm not going to say, you should ask Toto and Niki. " I wonder if the ' being warm' had anything to do with making Lewis pit when he didn't reallly want to? Just a thought. Rosberg would have been destroyed if Lewis had taken that race. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/34706265

It did occur to me, but it doesn't really matter. I'm already looking forward to the 4th.

Niki felt sorry for Nico. Said he needed that win to get him back psychologically. They want Nico sharp because when he challenges Lewis harder it makes Lewis faster., Said Lauda. He also said Lewis had blown Nico away a lot. m.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/121698

Interestingly Toto is willing to discuss reducing engine price, he has already compromised on the developement freeze and says compromise is good to help the smaller teams. Yet its Red Bull who have previously always refused any kind of cost caps to help the smaller teams, it was RBR who killed Fota and the RRA. But are the ones now whining for a cheaper engine (meaning an old engine thats easy for lamer ducks to get right) And the best part? - Ferrari are not even willing to discuss or commpronise on engine cost, using their blanket veto and calling the idea 'obscene' Yet its Merc who are stiffling competition

Sounds like Bernie or Horner spreading the rumour to help ook up a nice story to distract from RBRs mother of all fk ups, and to try some face saving over cancelling their Renault contract which has basically cost them 50 mill. The new 1 yr contract means they receive half as much from Infinity/Total in sponosrship and are net 50mill worse off after paying for the same engine they swore they would rather quit F1 than use.
Anyway Lauda is a shareholder in Merc and so will be involved no matter what, even if he stops the chairman role, so I'm afraid the h8rz will have to find other reasons for Lewis' 4th WDC to be in jeopardy

Nursing one driver along doesn't win you championships. Ask McLaren or Ferrari how it's worked out for them over the last few years.

So is Max Mosley going to pop his head back in and suggest a 100million fine then? And subsequent DSQ for Ferrari from the 2016 WCC, let's be fair now FIA.

Please, I'm begging you lot...please don't create a "....Gate" for this latest data/file theft fiasco. Let this one slide. Be charitable, after all, it's Christmas.

No it's not Christmas, we're not even close to Christmas! We continue the b!tchfest till the 23rd of December. I propose 'Cheatrrari-gate'. Simple, self explanatory.
