Well, I'm one of the most fussy eaters that I know of and very rarely try "new foods" because I'd rather not make myself feel unwell from trying something that I found gross.
The main thing that gets me is texture, lumpy texture, bitty texture, thick pastey texture, chewy...
What foods and drinks do you guys and girls detest with a passion and is there any reason why like the smell or texture or something else?
For me my main hates are:
Coffee because of its smell and taste
Mash potato because of its texture
Whipped cream because of its texture
Meat (to an extent) because I always find gristle or fat which when you bite into is one of the nastiest things around. If it doesn't have either of them I usually really like it.
Bananas because of the texture mostly but some is the taste, If I mix chocolate with it and heat it up so the chocolate melts over it then it's tasty.
Pies mainly because of the meat ingredient, I usually find gristle which instantly puts me off. I like the sauce, pastry and that's pretty much it.
Vegetables, I used to like carrot but now I can't stand any vegetables however I LOVE fruit and salad.
I think that's it for my main dislikes, someone might remind me of something else we'll see.

Beets... I don't know why. I've actually never eaten one but just... I can't. Okra... it can be slimy. Clams... Oysters not complete aversion but just not at the top of my list. Brussels Sprouts... just the bitterest things ever IPA beers... I guess for the same reason as the brussels spouts Celery... I'll go with the texture excuse RyRy loves. Just don't like it.
That's about it for the most part.

Beets = Beetroot for my fellow British folk (I like them!!!) Okra, never tried it... what is it like a pea sort of thing? I can certainly Clams/Oysters because of the texture and taste, I've tried Oyster and it was just weird, it wasn't as slimy as I thought it was going to be. How could I forget Brussels Sprouts, the people who hate them in 99% of cases have way more taste buds on their tongue and thats why they taste so nasty. IPA Beer? (Whats the IPA mean?)

RyRy I could make you a pie you'd like!
WB! You don't like clams of oysters! I adore them! Spaghetti con vgnole. I like okra too.
Other than that, similar things I dislike.
beetroot ( the look of it, how it bleeds, texture, everything really) Mashed or boiled potatoes, especially if lumpy ( texture and bland boring taste) Brussels sprouts ( I used to take them with water like a tablet when my mum made me eat them) Onion. I cook with onion , don't mind the taste but hate getting big chunks in things ( childhood hang up I think) Tea, the British sort. I like the sort from China. ( don't like taste or smell) Piccalilli. How it looks. ( childhood hang up again) Liver....though chicken liver is ok.
I'm sure there are a few more I'll think of later.
edit. Reminded me of another LRW. Cauliflower

Every day, we grow further and further apart RC. I don't think I've ever even eaten it. Just as a kid saw it and thought it looked gross. Now can't get over that.

It probably would taste ok, it's the thought, and it has all those bits in, even cauliflower. ..........LRW!! cauliflower was the only thing you put on your ' don't like much' list apart from black pudding!

I know. But that's only part of the whole. And plus I did say i WOULD eat it, if it came to it.
Piccalilli is pickled though.
You should try just a little in a gammon sandwich. Leftover gammon from a proper gammon joint.
It's lush.
Anything pickled I'm great with. Gherkins, cabbage, onions, gherkins again. The only thing I don't like pickled is eggs. Oh and cold hard boiled eggs. Oh and egg mayonnaise. Yuk.

Eggs *is* mayonnaise you lummox! Anyway, speaking of pickled things... I love pickled radishes, pickled veggies are good to begin with but there's something so crunchy sweet tart, love em. Oh that's right this is the foods we hater thread. Yeah.
About the IPA it's India Pale Ale, it's a piss type of been the Britts filled with hops so it could survive the trip down to india while remaining barely drinkable. Who'd have thunk it... people acquired a taste for it. It's supremely bitter.
About the brussel sprouts thing, you're right RyRy. Was reading something about certain people having more of the receptors for bitterness and therefore being overwhelmed by stuff like brussels sprouts. While others aren't affected in the slightest.

I'll eat Brussel Sprouts at for Christmas dinner. With a little bit of bacon.
The egg mayonnaise is lumpy. With cold lumpy cooked egg. It's fucking cat sick.
And mayo isn't my fave either. It's ok if you mix a fuck load of Cajun spice into it. And slap it on a Cajun marinated chicken breast, with some crispy round lettuce and a nice crispy baugette. Then im fine with mayo. .

You're British and you don't like our tea!? You just lost British citizenship! Piccalilli smells nasty but I've never actually tasted it. Liver, fucking nasty ass texture! I hate fruit cakes. Terrible way to waste a cake by stuffing it with raisins. I can eat raisins by themselves but looking at a fruitcake could make me gag a bit.
