After I got banned on the I obviously missed a true democratic event that was in response to the basic question asked by some of us. - What matters more? Appeasement by those with ulterior motives or a basic standard of truth and decency of intent when posting F1 info on an F1 site. It had become clearer and clearer that the raison d'tre of the forum was not about F1 truth, but about social interaction bordering on the creepy and fetishistic. I realised the banning of WB, LRW and then Hamms was tied in with drawing the line on the 'benefit of doubt' afforded to Admins who are more interested in smut and mods who are more interested in the BDSM aspect of modding. I am not presuming anyone now agrees totally with me or even took a stand in solidarity, I am just happy that the centuries old social device of revolution and standing up to be counted instead letting the comfortable status quo opiate override their own standards and sense of integrity This place will grow through the use of twitter very rapidly, with contributions from sharp members tweeted out (RC will be the expert here) this place will quickly surpass the in attracting vieweres If LRW does all admin like now, I am willing to provide an independent hosted forum with free scope for growth. It would be for example mikedarwin.com 0r anyonther name.com Basically I can add any number of domains to a deal I have. The trick would be to have a daily commentary on the days new events with a few posters making just 1 contribution a day to this, each article would allow guest posting and discussion and there would continue to be the forum itself, trick is to have the main contributors to producing something each day. We could make all co owners to add incentive This model works well, as long as I can remain completely anon, I can knock this up in no time. No disrespect to this solution, but we can evolve it immediately and change the name to an F1 theme, then twitter lends a hand Once again to all of everyone who made a stand and crossed the stormy ocean of comfort, appeasement and status quo Great stuff! A core of 10 sharp comentators on current F1 events is the main ingredient and we have at least that. Lets grow this

Like I said on other posts here and elsewhere Cookie. I've found that I tend to side on opinions with you 8 out of 10 times, so I'm glad you're here.
The reasons to complain have been left behind and I know you need your time to vent and release the pent of energies of unfairness but I bear no ill will or of feel any malcontent to the roots that brought us here. The sooner we make this place our home instead of our refuge the quicker it will grow into whatever it means to be.
You've been mentioned in a lot of the threads here so read them if you haven't already, it will help to understand the why for even people that didn't have an 8 out of 10 times of agreement ratio with you, still chose to join us.
Let's look forward instead of back, let's crawl and then walk before we start to run. I'm not here to grow and have this forum become any type of powerhouse etc. I just wanted a friendly place to talk to friends about the sport I love.
Not too technical, not too dry, not too stupid, and not too serious. Like Goldielocks finding her very own perfect bowl of porridge.

Some really good points made in both the above posts. My own view is that we consolidate what we've got and catch our breathe after the tumultuous last few months, and also think how we want the new forum to move forward. I think we will need to attract new blood, otherwise the forum will become claustrophobic and slowly die. And that would be a disaster!! when I think back to me first joining the other forum in 2007, I don't think there are any of the original membership left!! it's something I think we need to bare in mind. But for now. Let's enjoy what we've got!!! And a big thank you to you guys for doing this and saving our souls!!

I'm with RC in regards to consolidating what we have now, though I'd gladly be on board with the venture Cookin is talking about. It sounds ambitious with something to target, and could be like a pet project a few of us could undertake to make this something bigger. If we're dedicating a couple of hours a day on an F1 forum anyway, why not make it our own and organize something a bit more official between us? If we stay committed (since we love the topic anyway) we can make it work. Cooks, we're still catching our breath a bit here (LRW is still perfecting this platform) especially with the new season fast approaching....but in the meantime we could put together our own thoughts on how to make this a proper project and a show of hands who wants in. Let's give it 2 months? I'm spit balling a time frame here, but if we have at least 5-6 people from here who'd want in we could start something solid already. I'm in though, always been curious and more than slightly interested to start something like what Stephen did with forumula1...a proper site which hosts an F1 forum with great discussions and articulate thinking regarding F1. Though I'm not really IT savvy with coding and web stuff, so any other arena (content/marketing/and such) would suit me fine.

I'd be interested to be involved. But I also couldn't do the technical side. You've seen my attempts. Lol! What Id like to do , and it's something I did at the , is welcome the newly joined members via pm, answer their questions and generally help them settle in and feel welcome. Also I'd like to get something going on article writing, I tried on the other forum but didn't get the support fromStephen that he promised. My idea at the moment is to allocate a month to anyone interested in writing in F1 related article ........then interested parties have a deadline for getting their article finished. And we post an article at the beginning of the month as a 'feature article' on the opening page of the forum. And then it's discussed. I'm sure anyone who contributed would top Podmore's attempts. Technicalities of how it worked could be sorted out, but that's the general idea. I'd be happy to write some. I'd also be happy canvassing for support on Twitter

I half jokingly placed a wanted at in our welcome page, but I think that's a good idea RC, and Lew has turned blue in the face asking for an opportunity to write over there which went unanswered.

When I set up that writing competition Stephen was going to select an article of his choice and put it on the news page, also the winning article from the competition was going to go on there. It didn't happen and my pm's to him went unanswered.

Ewan's reasons for leaving were complex. But I still talk to Ewan and I was thinking of asking him to come to our forum? He's very knowledgeable and he's a good writer. I think he would be a really good contributor

I like Ewan, he's passionate about F1, incredibly knowledgeable and a decent, nice guy. I was also a member of his breakaway forum when he left Forumula1.
I'd fully support his recruitment here.
I'd also like to contribute articles if such a feature got set up.
