J/K just trying to throw people off the scent for the pool this weekend. I stand by my Forum League prediction at the moment, even with my pole time. You are a bad man WB!

As expected, Wherlein getting out of Q1 I've said time and time again that he is a genuinely good driver! Palmer for once getting a good lap in Raikkonen losing the monkey seat, not just Mercedes with things falling off lol Really good lap from Verstappen so far. Good job from Kvyat again so far, hopefully he can get into Q3

Bottas......
Congratulations on FIRST Pole!
New lap record.
Lewis hasn't looked on it since he arrived here.
* Great job Renault! * Excellent Ricciardo; maintains his record of never being outqualified by his teammate here * Ferrari already going backwards?
Look forward to tomorrow. Hope Lewis can do better.

Great Lap from Valtteri, Hamilton had a mistake in middle sector. Hamilton was already safe by the end of the first sector if he had just matched his first lap in s2 and s3. Interesting Mercedes look like they're pulling a little bit out on Ferrari, I think the heat is playing with Ferrari. Red Bull look much better than the previous two races and Ricciardo is back on top Good job!

Good pole from Bottas, he needed that.....even though I wished it was Lewis.
My interforum is in tatters, I hope some others have done better!

I hope this isn't Ferrari starting to drop away??? Just when I thought we had a bit of competition at the front. Entertaining qualifying though... many congratulations to Mr Bottas!

Lewis was all like "hehehe I got this!" after his first lap seeing Ferrari weren't even close, and then...boom. Hope he's on it at the start and gets past Bottas asap.

I hope this isn't Ferrari starting to drop away??? Just when I thought we had a bit of competition at the front. Entertaining qualifying though... many congratulations to Mr Bottas! Well... Australia: Mercedes -0.000 Ferrari -0.250~ Red Bull -1.300~ China: Mercedes -0.000 Ferrari -0.175~ Red Bull -1.350~ Bahrain: Mercedes -0.000 Ferrari -0.475~ Red Bull -0.775~ Considering that throughout the rest of the field most cars are much closer together than the previous two races and even Renault and Williams are able to nip at the heels of Ferrari/Red Bull in this race it just looks like Ferrari are at a bad track for their car or they have set their car up to be kinder on tyres for the race. Red Bull pretty much halved the gap for this race so for Ferrari to drop back twice as far as they were it looks very odd. I suspect that the team are being a bit cautious due to some engine reliability problems so they are essentially sacrificing the race win in order to not push the engines and need to take new parts for races later on in the season.

In which case, what are your thoughts re. the restrictions on components/replacements.
Unnecessary?

Or...what if Mercedes just turned their power on to maximum? For two races they were chillin, and now they show their hand finally? Ferrari and Redbull are where they are.
It's possible. Explains Lewis and Merc team being all 'sportsmanlike' and happy for the competition being 'so close' in Melbourne after getting their ass beat. By the team which finished 3rd best just few months ago.

Maybe the fact that too much attention is being paid to the floor? Ferrari looked way off, Raikkonen kept complaining of understeer...

Okay, Renault having two cars in Q3... it's been a while but glad they're there. Hulkenberg just now has to translate his result into a clean race. Ricciardo a solid lap, maybe Renault brought a little extra juice today. Bottas put together a really solid lap, glad he gets his first pole ever. There are a half dozen drivers I can think of that would be doing better than Kimi at Ferrari at this point. This track does suit Mercedes better so I think the half second gap is simply an exaggeration caused by this circuit. The big gains with these new cars is in long high speed corners and there's just not many of those here.
Let's see what tomorrow brings, hoping we get a nice Mercedes 1-2 battle.

Ferrari/Red Bull battle will be interesting... if its even a battle to begin with. Will Ferrari... well in the hands of Vettel will leave Red Bull behind or will Red Bull be in some touching distance of Vettel all race? Thats what I'm probably most interested in for the race.
Does look Merc have that edge in Bahrain and that Lewis and Valtteri will be having their first one on one fight up front.

I Don't think Ferrari are really in trouble. Red Bull and Renault have done NOTHING yet closed .75s on Ferrari here. Either it's just a bad track (think Singapore for Merc) or they've made a mistake with one of the new upgrades.

Bottas winning today would make things very interesting for the year. Ferrari BTW, brought in host of upgrades, they didn't work as planned perhaps? IDK, let's see how race pace goes.
It's going to be windier and cooler today so I'm thinking we're going to see quite a few offs.
