Problems for Merc with car 77. They broke curfew last night to fix an electrical problem on the power unit. Toto tweeted that it was fixed but the car now has a water leak. They are now using the power unit that was used fir the first four races and the mechanics are working flat out to get him some running in this session.

Hey, I don't need to be right, just within 1% to get something! We'll see soon enough.

Renault has mad a nice big stride this weekend. They're now the solid fourth, if only Palmer wasn't on the other side of the garage to Hulkenburg, they may have actually been able to begin to chip away at Force India and Williams.

Ummm WoW.... what a quali session!
Although I think i might be drunk, I keep seeing an Orange car in P7!
To be fair though, Vettel and Hamilton should have both dipped into the 1:18.9

Yeah, I think the only one with a sub 1:19 would have been Hamilton, he was over two tenths down in the first two sectors but screwed the pooch in the last sector, just like everyone else. Good qualifying session, nice personal touch with the new post qualifying interviews as well.
Really stellar lap by Alonso, I'm sure Honda gave him all that little crappy PU had. You know it's not going to make race distance though.

Found a bar to watch race...run by very drunken Aussie! I've actually done my predictions straight off no nessing! So come on pool guys! Where do I post them?
Hands off to Alonso today, it must be said! And those Hass' are up there.
Stroll and Palmer consistenly lagging far behind teammates. And Sainz finishing off Kvyats career. Ocon meanwhile keeping up well with Perez( who is one of my favourites)

Hamilton had a pretty messy lap, surprised he got pole but then again so did Vettel in the last few corners. Hamilton absolutely dominated sector 3, he was 3+ tenths faster than any other car.
The Red Bulls will be strong in the race, I expect Verstappen to win this between himself and Ricciardo.
Crazy how bad Stroll and Vandoorne still are in comparison to their teammates.
When is Wehrlein going to get a top seat, he performed better than Ocon last year and did some amazing performances. He came back from his injury and instantly out quallified his teammate comfortably and just look today neither car had any issue but yet Wehrlein was 0.5 faster than Erricson!

To quote Montoya, "Raikkonen, what a fucking idiot"

Summary:
- Very unfortunate for both Raikkonen and Verstappen, chain reaction bumping caused by Bottas being pinched. No ones fault really. - Alonso unlucky getting punted off by Massa. - Poor driving my Vandorne, he should have seen the Williams up the inside. - Impressive yet again from Wehrlein, shame he got a 5 second penalty for a pit entry penalty. He was up in 7th doing a more than good job. - Hamilton's 2nd pit was perfect, couldn't have timed that better. - Fire Stroll... he's too slow. Massa had multiple incidents including a loss of 30+ seconds AND an extra pitstop and yet he still managed to catch his teammate. - Force India doing fantastic, I said at the start of the season they would be good. They've certainly confirmed it. Ocon and Perez both did a great job. - I expect Magnussen to get a penalty, he basically tried to ram Kvyat off the road lol - While the regulation change made a battle for 1st/2nd best teams it made the gap between the front runners and the mid pack much worse, an extra couple of laps and we would of had Ferrari & Mercedes both lapping every car INCLUDING the Red Bulls. I'm not impressed with the changes. - Regulations still suck balls, cars struggling to follow or overtake.

HAM/VET 1-2 .... one day later RIC P3, For Red Bull to be that far off on this circuit is quite disappointing.

Not the most exciting on track battle, this one was fought on the computer simulations in the pits. Mercedes seems to have finally shifted gears on the strategy front. Still a crappy race circuit but nice to see full grandstands, excited fans and Kimi's biggest little fan, he'll remember this race his entire life. Fourth and fifth for Force India is insane, Wherlein drove a fantastic race, so did Sainz and Kyviat. Good job by a lot of the youngsters. Alonso's finishing position is probably a lot more representative of where McLaren's car is in comparison to the rest of the field.
The DNFs will be screwing with everyone's results though, especially over in the League Pool. I'm going to go tabulate the scores for you all here, stay tuned.

Force India facing penalties for not putting the driver's numbers in the right place / big enough. Shouldn't effect results but may get grid drops for Monaco.
Vandoorne handed 5 grid drop for Monaco after collision with Massa.

LOVED this race! And I usually hateThis circuit! I guess because I didn't know how it would pan out, Merc got its strategy sorted this time and there was overtaking. Of course the result was great too! 👍
Great team playing from Bottas! He couldn't compete being on the older engine but he played the team card perfectly! Can you imagine Button or Brittany doing that?
Force Indias.... superb! I had them high, but not that high!

found out that Ricciardo(3rd) did managed to lap Perez in 4th. He was definitely what you would call 'in no man's land' You can almost say that Red Bull is the midfield, and the rest are mobile chicanes. Looking forward for Monaco, hopefully Red Bull can spring a surprise at the tight streets and get in the mix or atleast be some sort of hindrance to the Merc's and Ferrari's.

I saw a lot of complaints from people about the "advantage" Mercedes and Ferrari have, saying it was a crap result for F1 when everyone up to 4th was lapped. Obviously these people never watched F1 in the 80's 90's or 00's where gaps of 1min+ for the top 3 were common and it was normal for only 3 or 4 cars to be on the lead lap.

Actually got that wrong, Perez didn't get lapped by Ricciardo, trying to find what the interval was between those two, maybe something like 30-40 seconds.
