I think Torro Rosso need to be held back and equalised, its bad for the sport when 17 year olds in low budget cars thrash Red Bull. Happily the FIA has a mechanism for equalising RBR and STR - give RBR 80 mill a year just for turning up and make them a key member of the strategy group. Red Bull can always just ban STR from racing anymore or maybe remove their engines

Ferraris finding the 'loophole' has not done Renault any favours says Cyril Abiteboul. It meant that right up to Dec they weren't sure wether to develop flat out or whether to plan for over the year. Meanwhile Red Bull just lay into their engine partner saying they've made a retrograde step. www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/12616789/token-loophole-had-downside-renaultI must say out of all this Red Bull don't come out of looking very good to my mind. You don't turn in your partner in public like that after they've helped deliver championships. Renault haven't sorted their engine as well as the others yet, ok, these things happen sometimes , but maybe the chassis has issues too. Renault aren't reacting like spoilt kids who've had their sweets taken away like Red bull are. Ferrai were in a mess, but they've got their head down and have made a big leap forward. Time to stop it now ! Horner, and Marko and Meserscmit( boss man. Can never remember name) you ain't sounding very clever!

Yeah, recently with luca Dimontetotaldodo in charge, everytime Red Bull wanted to chang th rules they would gt Ferrari to mouth off and agitate for a change, and most times Ferrari shot themselves in the foot whilst RBR cleanup. Since the arrival of the new Ferrari 'more forward looking as opposed to backward arsed looking' and guys like MnM and Sergio, Ferrari got more clever and agitated with their own wellbeing in mind. And as we all said, the engine unfreeze was a case of wishing blindly for what you dont really want IF you are not a manufacturer.
So RBR, with their squealing about unfreezes and unlimited development screwed themselves over by having an engine maker who do not want to silly spend, and therefore promoted Ferrari who own and fund their own engine maker to the position they should have been in if it wasnt for the backward arsed national pride Dimontezedodo - an integrated harmonius engine/chassis manufacturer like McHonda are trying to synthesise and RBr are suddenly coming to terms with
Seb/Ferrari, El Ponso/McHonda are the only viable competition for Lewis in the next 4 years or so
unless the your Audi or BMW get emotional and turn up

It's looking that way. Which is quite a juicy prospect , I'm up for that! you think Williams will fade back? They are seeming to already.

Ferrari further distancing themselves from the lunacy that Red Bull have become.

I saw that mentioned on another site, it's obviously where Ferrari have made their gains and Red Bull are having problems with

Horner really is proving to be a desperate man. Now that Ferrari and Toro Rosso have shown a clear upswing in performance, Horner is realising the FIA (along with everyone else) has scoffed at the whole equalisation rubbish. So now he's focusing on wind tunnel bans. Why? It's been known for years that Newey's unconventional designs come heavily from paper and pen deep into the design cycle and supported heavily by CDF...when others of his ilk are combining the use of CDF and validating with wind tunnel testing of the parts and scale models all the way through. They, Red Bull/Horner, feel confident Newey can design a very aero efficient car without the use of a wind tunnel...and I'm convinced he can. The others however would have issues. So that's Horner's advantage. The only problem Horny, your argument sucks. He is suddenly focused on cost cutting on the aero side but yet he's been whinging about opening up the regulations for engine development AND Friday engines, all of which have a huge cost. I see Horner sitting in a dark corner at night, nursing a warm beer, mumbling to himself out loud about avenues he can take where Red Bull will gain while the others struggle...and the aero ban is the last thing he came up with. A desperate man indeed.

I can't help thinking if Merc have played a blinder and deliberately tuned their cars down for the Msian GP after the political heat in Melbourne. Ferrari look like heroes, the biggest Mouths at RB are silenced and people are happier.
Tune the cars back up again for China, and will the squealing begin again? A lot less likely. Merc have played cunning before, with their tyre testing in Barcelona, Lewis 'tweeting' from a beach in USA (LOL) etcetc. Who knows...but whatever the case, I'd still be very surprised if they don't bring it home 1-2 next weekend. Ferrari catching up by 2 seconds over winter? Really?? So hard to buy it.

If Merc dominate in China which I fully expect them to then it's pretty clear that the Malaysian incident was one of the following:
1) Either a mix of two poor strategy calls + the unusual heat OR 2) A perfectly balanced and coordinated reduction in power to silence the critics and just to take the focus of themselves. OR 3) Mercedes complied to the fuel regulation change a race early to get a headstart against Ferrari on switching to the new rules, in which case Mercedes should dominate once again by the same amount because Ferrari's last race performance will be back down to how it was in Melbourne.

The only facts we have are that Red Bull have almost diasapeared into the media wilderness and have run a mile from pleading and begging for the FIA to 'equalise' the merc advantage (in effect to freeze Merc and allow Renault unlimited development to attempt to catch up) And since Renault came out all guns blazing insisting Red Bull messed up the chassis as Ferrari proved the regs allow anyone to catch up to Merc, given the right expenditure
Then we can safely say Renault are not likely to be spending money on tricks quite yet,
So we have Ferrari and Merc
Only one of them has made a sudden gain in the ability to deploy the energy their engine produces without worrying about fuel efficiency
Mind you we have all been told Ferrari are the noble experts in ICE - which tend to work by turning available fuel into power
Unfortunately Red Bull appear to be under a media silence and are no longer complaining about unfairness or freezes or screaming for equalisation, so the mid field teams have stepped into the media void

planetf1.com/driver/3213/42335/Red-Bull-in-fresh-quit-threatRed Bull threatening to quit again, and surprise surprise! Bernie tells us the sport is dying unless Merc can be forced to agree to change things and Reichsfuhrer Max is suddenly saying the FIA are weak and Toto is the evil destroyer And Bernie says he will win this battle Funny thing is no one appears to give a shit about RBR and Bernie is finding he doesnt have the back hand control over the regulations and rules he had when helping out his then pet team Ferrari. Poor RBR, they have paid Bernie all those slush funds thinking they would get the old favours with the caravan dwelling dwarf puting his foot down and the reichsprotektor fixing the FIA Oh well, maybe they can all disappear together in one go

Helmet Barko still acting like anyone at all gives a shit about Red Bull. He should just go back to demanding ferrari and Merc are equalised down to Renaults level funny how all the bitching moaners about stiffling competition and unfair rules and nasty Merc are completely silent while they hope everyone forgets about their previous embarrassing 'passion' - bet they will be the same ones jumping up to knock Helmet and co thisisf1.com/2015/04/24/red-bull-accuses-mercedes-of-helping-ferrari-catch-up/
