Yes! Real grid girls instead of silly grid kids. In fact one of those grid girls is a colleague of Natny.

Whoa, Natny. I actually had forgotten the race was this weekend. I'm going to be away for a Porsche air cooled engine rebuilding class where we disassemble a flat six air cooled, and reassemble it. Good training for this coming winter when I tackle my rebuild. When I originally picked the date I figured there would be an off weekend after Bahrain.

11°c For the race day

11°c For the race day The medium tire may wind up being the tire of choice. Qualify with the Soft, and do a one stop, soft/medium. We'd see the ultrasoft only in Q3. It's a two compound jump!

ooo it's gone up! Now 14 °c for Quali but dropping as the session goes on. IF the cloud cover goes, could be as high as 17 °c for the race, otherwise more like 14 °c racechick it's ok.. mid 20's the following weekend around Shanghai.

Well FP1 times kinda match Q1 times from last year. FP2 is supposed to be wet, so some teams may have focused on race setup during FP1. Hamilton looks ominous already; 0.359 seconds faster than P2 Kimi, while using the Medium tyre vs Softs on the Ferrari! Meanwhile... I know you can't use FP1 to gauge anything.. BUT.... Last year I brought up the theory that the reason McLaren were so "good" at low power tracks where downforce is the key was because they were running WAY more downforce than other teams. This gave them speed through the corners at the cost of race straight speed. It was one of the issues Honda had with them because it made the engine look worse than it was. Mclaren meanwhile always said their aero was "one of the best" and it was 100% Honda's fault that they were slow on the straights. We are now 11 sessions into 2018 and McLaren are STILL slow in a straight line when compared to the 2 other Renault powered teams. On average, roughly 7km/h down on the other teams.
| Rd1 Q | Rd1 R | Rd2 Q | Rd2 R | Rd3 FP1 | Red Bull |
| | | | | Ricciardo | 311.1 | 306.8 | 320.7 | 296.9 | 207.6 | Verstappen | 312.5 | 318.6 | 314 | 311.9 | 207.3
| Average | 311.8 | 312.7 | 317.35 | 304.4 | 207.45 | Renault |
| | | | | Hulkenberg | 309.9 | 319.7 | 318.2 | 322.4 | 205.2 | Sainz | 310.4 | 290.9 | 320.6 | 335.4 | 204.8 | Average | 310.15 | 305.3 | 319.4 | 328.9 | 205 | McLaren |
| | | | | Alonso | 309.8 | 298.5
| 314.2 | 321.1 | 204.3 | Vandoorne | 308 | 298.3 | 310.7 | 322.1 | 202.8 | Average | 308.9 | 298.4 | 312.45 | 321.6 | 203.55 |
*Note: Red Bulls problems in Bahrain had a huge effect on their speed. Time for even the staunchest McLaren fans to face facts; The car design is average at best. For laughs, lets just see how bad that Honda engine is: Torro Rosso | Rd1 Q | Rd1 R | Rd2 Q | Rd2 R | Rd3 FP1 | Gasly | 312.3 | 296.1 | 324.6 | 324.6 | 204.3 | Hartley | 314.9 | 281.9 | 320.4 | 316.1 | 202.9 | Average | 313.6 | 289 | 322.5 | 320.35 | 203.6 |

McLaren are BSers. They were using their partner as the scape goat the entire time. They forced the agreement for Honda to only supply 1 team and it hurt McLaren and Honda badly. And on top of that, they made it worse for Honda by bigging up their chassis like it's the 8th wonder of the World.
Ironically this year they're going to make a lot of people hate them. Especially if TR starts beating McLaren on a regular basis or is at least on par with them this year.

I believe that Lewis will strike back here. Both weaknesses of the Mercedes (graining on rear tyres, cooling constraints in hot temps) shouldn't apply. By the way, look who from this forum sneaked into Top 10 of my F1 fantasy manager

The long run pace is close, very close. The only way Lewis bounces back here is if he's on pole and can dominate the race from the front, he does own China. Don't think this will be a one stop race.

Who's going to go soft soft ultrasoft, who's going to go soft medium. I think Merc might go Soft Medium

I just find it unbelievable how fickle minded people are. or maybe it's just extremely wishful thinking. People think Mercedes are no longer the best team anymore just because of 1 qualifying session!

And the flip side of that, WHERE ARE ALL THE CRIES OF ‘ FOUL PLAY, MERCEDES CHEET BECAUSE THEIR ENGINE GOES FASTER!’ it doesn’t go faster, the Ferrari car goes faster. So let’s stop the whinging about favours to Mercedes. There aren’t any favours to Mercedes, they just did their homework better, but Ferrari , like other Italians have learnt that cheats don’t prosper, and they’ve actually come up with a competative car. Well done on that Ferrari! But dont underestimate Mercedes ability and desire to fight back...and DONT whinge when they do.

I don't know if I'm just stupid, or if McLaren are a bunch of idiots. Just rewatched highlights.....they were the only team to do that ridiculous 'tow' strategy on the back straights...seriously? Apparently they even practiced this during FP sessions.
Isn't this a waste of time to gain a couple of tenths to get into Q3 which isn't even an advantage since qualifying just outside the top 10 especially at this track is a big advantage. I don't get it, a team like McLaren trying these sort of lame tricks to pretty much gain nothing.

gonna be hot for the race. I'm at a park near the track now and it's sweaty hot.
my grid girl friend keeps messaging me after they told her no phones. she says she's started drinking already so if you see one staggering about in the grid then that's Jeanne.
