Not just that, they plan to make the performance up with aerodynamic efficiency, meanign you've got to be going 100mph just to begin to see the benefits of downforce. Good luck with that, but there is a thread somewhere I started years ago entitled "For thos with more money than sense" Menwhile in the no bullshit world of science and facts, the internal combustion engine is over 130 years old now. Originally the thermal efficiency of it was about 17%. Over the next 120 year or so it got to about 35% with extremely efficient designs nearly hitting 40%. With F1 and the new engine regulations, Mercedes is not hitting 50% thermal efficiency. Extracting 50% of the total power that fuel had available. But yeah, stiffling competition and all that...

Just seen the race suits for RedBull.
They are a dark blue/grey leather look kinda thing. They look badass.
RedBull really have done well on their look this year.

The race suits are pretty cool. And I think the matte paint job look alright on track (on TV) as well, One of the better liveries out there IMO.

Yep its the most striking livery on the grid for me. And also pleasantly surprised how competitive they are, that Tag Heuer engine actually held its own! Differences might become more evident at power circuits but I don't see them just being sitting ducks like last year.

It's all tighter relative to everyone else. I do like the matt finish, maybe because of it being new but clearly like Frontrunner said, getting rid of the fru-fru Infinity purple makes all the difference. Maybe Tag really does know a thing or two about engines.

I didn't notice it so much, I'll look out more next race. I liked the yellow car, the Renault. But who couldn't like a yellow car? And you could spot it easily!
EDIT. Sorry. Red bull thread. I got carried away.

It must suck being a Red Bull fan at the moment. Two articles with two of the RB principals complaining about regulations in one morning is just too much.
Christian Spice wants the FiA to threaten teams with a budget engine again, and Helmet Marko whining about Mercedes blocking the changes to the 2017 regulations. All while the articles a couple of days ago where about how much better the TAG HEUER engines are, allowing them to challenge Ferrari and Mercedes this year.

This new Renault might be one good step forward, Ricciardo wants it straight away for Monaco. Also notice Magnussen is saying the same thing, he wants it for Monaco as well.
Still the new TAG Heuer engine in the Red Bull will not trouble Mercedes at all but Ferrari could be seriously threaten by Red Bull on a much more regular basis.
Could Red Bull demote Ferrari to 3rd best car??? If so, It ain't going to go down well at Maranello.

Man that would be awesome. In fact I'm hoping they could challenge Mercedes at some tracks this season.

Man that would be awesome. In fact I'm hoping they could challenge Mercedes at some tracks this season. Singapore could be theirs. Monaco they're going to be strong with or without the engine. The Red Bull really gets out of corners well because its able to come into the corner well. They really lack just a bit of top end to be very competitive.

I'm surprised to see that Renault only used 3 tokens on there big engine upgrade that Ricciardo is running this weekend, That would be quite impressive if what Renault and Red Bull are saying in terms of improved performance is true and to use so little tokens is quite handy, And still Renault have 21 tokens up their sleeve yet.
Anyways Montreal will tell us if those performance gains are true, Monaco ain't the place to judge engine performance.

It was never about the tokens, they had plenty to make changes. The drastic change is because they unlocked portions of the PU that were previously locked for development. Next year thankfully we're done with these conversations and it's all bets off on the engine development front. Looking forward to it!

Merc, Ferrari or Honda engines were never going to happen for different reasons. It was their one only option really.
