Was reading a review of last year's race and... McLaren qualified 5th and 6th last year at Monza! That is because Mercedes Engines are never prone to conk out in the first straight

Be interesting to see what the updated power units will bring to the show for Mercedes and Ferrari.
Mercedes are aiming at effiency gains through specific development of fuel and oils. Relatively minor changes but means they can push the PU's harder for longer. Extending their advantage over a racing stint.
I have no details on the Ferrari updates but I'm betting they are along the same lines!

Subtle kick in the teeth to the other engine manufacturers. We don't really need to spend our remaining 7 tokens but we're doing it simply as a way to improve reliability and things that will benefit us next year with Petronas fuels and oils.

So far there are 5 cars with grid penalies already, Ricciardo, Kvyat, Sainz, Alonso and Button.

Well they did start development two years before anyone else...... 'prior planning prevents piss poor performance' Plus loads of resource And a huge development budget.

Lewis fastest in FP1. Half a second clear of Rosberg in second place and over a second and a half clear of Vettel in third place.

Oh my days, its probably a good thing this GP wasn't chosen as one of the live on free to air races in Australia, I know its only practice but Lewis is dead set to win by 3 days. Next race please.

I hate weekends like this, Hungary was a total Lewis domination FP1, FP2, FP3, Qualifying... and then came race day.

I know this will come across as kinda dumb (or very dumb) but the pattern is a bit curious: 1. Lewis Hamilton GBR 25 18 25 25 18 15 25 18 25 8 25 (Next: Monza) 2. Nico Rosberg GER 18 15 18 15 25 25 18 25 18 4 18 (Next: Monza) The only 2nd place was at Spain where Nico grabbed his only (unexpected) pole and never looked back. Sorry guys, this might not be Lewis' weekend.

Although that blonde hair is asking for trouble, that has to attract bad luck.

Milan is only about 3hrs from here so leaving tomorrow morning. Only got race day ticket so not going to track until Sunday morning. Plan is to stay at a place by a lake about an hour from Milan, drive to Milan Sunday morning. Leave car in car park by station and get train to Monza. Only thing in this great scheme of things is that I will probably miss quali. And I'm hoping the hotel by the lake has wifi otherwise I can't do the pool picks either. I think it does have wifi, better check.
