He hurt his back somehow during second part of qualifying, he came into the pits and the team checked his seat but nothing was wrong. After he got out the car he was hobbling a lot and looked in a fair bit of pain.

Oh yes! I remember hearing that! That something was sticking in a drivers back...I hadn't realised it was Bottas though.

Any of you remember last year, Lewis saying he "found something" and would be taking it into 2015? Well, the lad is looking threatening. One of the things I think he is doing now is staying closer to the baseline setup until qualifying so that Nico can't copy his setup and get used to driving with it until it's too late. Hiding his light under a bushel, so to speak. (I like it.) And it seems to be working. Nico looks horribly frustrated.
Such fun...

I think you're absolutely right 2nd coming. It wasn't until quali that Lewis started topping the times. He's covering all the bases he can!!!

Agree 2nd comimg I'm glad Lewis has found a way of making it harder for Nico to copy...
On Sky..Lewis was asked if he checked Nico's telemetry...he answered, "I don't really look at his stuff."
DC said in 2015 Preview...that LH had more...he finishes the races with more fuel left in his car... He could turn the wick up if needed.

The last turn was extremely tricky, then there's a huge bump if you go off. Bottas looked like the may have aggravated his back there perhaps? The qualifying was great. The third step of the podium is going to be a ferocious battle for the remainder of the year.
I'm impressed by Sainz, the Toro Rosso and Verstappen has speed but looks like a messy messy boy, let's see how he grows into the season, otherwise it would be my opinion that they brought him in a year or two too early.
The Ferrari does not look like a good car to drive, it was clearly pushed to the edge of its ability by Vettel and it's far off the pace. Yesterday though it looked even worse on the hard compound. That's going to be their achilles heel this year, Willaims has a battle on their hands and we're going to be in for a treat in the WCC fight after Mercedes.
McLaren... they couldn't look worse frankly.
After today's qualifying results, Alonso's doctor recommends he stay out until after the August break, just to be on the safe side.

Oh, one more thing... can they be showing that Lotus development driver woman any more? I mean she's kind of cute and all but it seems that every time they talk about Lotus, she's in the world feed.

When Johnny Herbert did the skypad thing the 2 drivers were in different gears at some point in S1, thats pretty amazing giving they followed the same pattern thru the whole lap. Nico is likely to play the hapless role in quali and the race this year

Agree about the TR and their drivers. That's going to be exciting to watch. I think they're both good and closely matched and the car's good. Currently way better than the Mclaren, which is looking woeful at the moment. Six seconds off the pace! How does that stand in regards to the 107% rule?

If Bottas is deemed unfit to drive( they're assessing him in the morning) will Suzie drive?

Could be a job for Susie Wolfe But ofcourse not as she hasnt done 107% in quali, she hasnt even done any Fp this weekend, so impossible for this race

Is it the driver that has to do the 107% ? I thought it was the car. If you get a driver go ill, can't your reserve just step in? Not sure of the rules here now.
And did either Mclaren car make the 107%?

The driver has to qualify to race. I think the rule is part of the one that places car in parc ferme at the start of quali, i.e. no diver changes allowed after quali starts, then if one driver fails the 107% rule but has a reason and has done well in FP AND his teammates car is within, only then can there be a consideration to waive the 107%
But no Susie :-(

And did either Mclaren car make the 107%? The fastest time in seconds was Lewis 86.327 seconds so 10% is 8.6 secs and lets say 7% is around 6.6 secs So 107% of the fastest time is 86.327+ 06.6 = 92.937 = 1.32.9 So ball park figuring out both cars made it through Mags on 1.32.03 Of course its possible that Honda calculated how much they could turn down the engine and still make it, cos that would have been really embarrassing for Honda edit: just checked with a calculator and its actually 1.32.369 - so they still made it comfortably

At this rate McLaren could score a point just by getting lapped about 6 times, once the winner finishes they can stop
