So here is a question for you. Now Hamilton has won the WDC. Now Merc have won the WCC. Now that Vettle has publicly announced he plans to keep hold of 2nd place in the drivers championship. Do you think Hamilton will help Nico? Will Merc ask him to help? Could there even be team orders to help Nico? Lewis Hamilton does not think he needs to sit down with Nico Rosberg and discuss his aggressive pass at the first corner of the U.S. Grand Prix. After the Austin race an incensed Rosberg said his Mercedes team-mate "went one step too far" by forcing him off the road at the first corner, which Hamilton also did in Japan two races previous. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff initially said he planned to sit down with both drivers and make sure there was no bad blood, though has since conceded the incident has been blown out of proportion. Hamilton, who wrapped up the title by winning in Austin, says talks are only necessary if Mercedes feels the need to placate Rosberg. "We haven't spoken, nor do I think we really need to," Hamilton said. "The reason for me is that I'm very easy-going so I never really have any problems. I think Toto feels that he needs to perhaps sit with Nico to see where his head is at, obviously we don't want any tension in the team. Generally we do often come together and keep it transparent. I don't really have anything to say about it but I'm sure we will sit down and see what Nico's feeling and whatever emotions he has and try and dilute them and move on."
Hamilton also played down the moment which saw Rosberg throw his Pirelli cap at him after the race. "In terms of the cap thing, I don't know, it was pretty funny -- I don't really have much else to say about it!" Rosberg is now in a straight fight with Sebastian Vettel for second in the championship and trails the Ferrari driver by four points. With the drivers' and constructors' championship secured Hamilton sees no reason to help his team-mate win that battle. "The team have not asked me to support him in that role, I'm here to win the race. The team has won the constructors' championship so I think from here on there's not really a huge benefit to the team for me to start helping ... we'll see what Toto wants me to do."

Do you think Hamilton will help Nico? Will Merc ask him to help? Could there even be team orders to help Nico? You beat me to it LRW. I thought about doing a poll to address this question. So what do I think? Do I think Hamilton will help Rosberg? Let's look first at, ' do I think Hamilton will hand a win to Rosberg. No I don't think he will. a) because of the nature of Lewis b) because Lewis will want to retain wins for his own records c) because Lewis wouldn't want to win by a gift. Do I think Hamilton would help in any other way? Yes. So long as he didn't compromise his own race I think he would help by being in the right place at the right time. Perhaps keeping Vettel behind him at strategic moments. Will Merc ask Lewis to help him? Behind the scenes? They might but I don't think so. Outright team orders? No. a) This would be bad for Merc's image when they've stated from the outset they let the drivers race, and with bith championships sealed they really have no excuse to not let them race. b) They risk alienating their star driver who's just won back to back championships for them and is the one who would deliver should the field close up in the next year or two. c) Receiving a gift would further damage Rosberg's fragile psychological state (hat incident), which wouldn't help next season. d) Mercedes have both championships. If another driver finishes second, it somewhat takes the wind out of the sails of those who say Lewis and Mercedes only win by being the dominant car, unfair blah, blah, blah. So so I don't think it would really be in anyone's interest for Mercedes to meddle in this.

I agree, Lewis will help Nico only if it doesnt compromise his winning the race. Lets not forget Lewis helped Nico last race by bunching the field during the VSC allowing Nico to blast past Danny Ric by 'using up his delta in one go'. Also Lewis has helped Nico many atime by being pitted later even when in th lad, resulting in his lead cut but Nico passing someone in the pits.
I think we can be sure Merc are not ever gonna do anything that might piss Lewis off just to help Nico who has a year left on his contract
Afterall Merc is not McLaren and Toto is not easily disturbed

This weekend can't do it for Nico, I'm actually fully expectant of a Lewis victory because of his adaptability this being a new circuit. But all Nico really needs is to do what he does every weekend, come in second when he doesn't break down.
I think that will happen on its own, and Nico may even win in Brazil.

They are a team, Hamilton knows his duties and will try and help Rosberg only if it doesn't jeopardise his position, I doubt the team will use team orders unless it's for a switch if 2nd and 3rd. Mercedes won't ask him to help Rosberg because they're already won both the champions.

This is fascinating. It's the transcripts from the start of the last rate and I think it gives a real insight into the state of mind of the two Mercedes drivers before the start This is before the race start on the warm up lap. Nico radios saying m ' there's something wrong with his tyres, they aren't working, they're juddering and there's understeer.' Tony ROSS tells him 'they're cold Nico' Lewis meanwhile radios to say 'I Feel like the fronts are gonna take a beating' Lewis had already figured it out. He then turned his mind to the start and had Sussed out where the dry line was and was deciding which line to take, when to cut to the dry line. He ran his thoughts past Bonnington who advised. www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2015/10/29/2015-united-states-grand-prix-team-radio-transcript/

If Vettel was in there he would have commented on that remark about the gust of wind or at least laughed, the way Hamilton said it was hilarious, so smooth and harsh I love it haha

I don't believe we have such a thread? (I hope......... I did search) So I started one, and I thought I'd kick off with this article that says, though Rosberg has had more points than Hamilton in the first part of the season, he never REALLY lead the championship, he won by default. There are some dire statistics in the article for Rosberg, such as..... "It wasn’t until the duo’s race-ending collision in Spain that the team finally ironed out the issues on Hamilton’s side of the garage. With Hamilton returning to his successful form, which we saw much of 2015, Rosberg hasn’t been able to win the races because he was never really performing well enough to have earned the top of the championship table. Hamilton has won six of the seven races that took place after the Spanish Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg hasn’t even been able to score a podium position in more than half of those races." What do you think? racingclothesline.com/post/149270142330/20160821

Why do spiders get such a bad rap, you know they're scuttling across the floor looking up thinking 'omg look at the size of that thing with it's two big scary legs and feet'
