Maybe he's just being realistic after all...they look like shit so far. Not much testing, drivers crashing left and right and the car being 3 seconds slower than Merc. And on top of that they weren't even sandbagging.
And anyone heard about Alonso actually struggling to ride a bike a few days ago? This smells a lot like he did get a shock in the car and McLaren are covering their ass by lying. Sorry, I digress....but this team is so lost at the moment. When Ron Dennis started sugar coating and hyping up Honda so much last season I was thinking there's two paths for this: They're going to come out of the blocks like another Brawn, or be a complete disaster in the works.

Thats actually the crux of it is it the old Ron, the old Honda (old old Honda) or is it flogging a dead horse? The clue may lie in who the lead driver is for the first race of the season. Like Sam Michael, who had a lot of flack - unfortunately the stats can highlight how likely one is to get smoke from a fire. Every single year of Jensons career has been spent in exactly the same grid area, apart from the Brawn year and a couple of McLaren years. Whats really worrying about Hamms prediction that they will either come flying like Brawn or.... is that to actually fly like Brawn thy would have to swap the Honda for a Merc. yikes!! It might actually be the best thing if Alonso stayed at home for a few more races till the car had turned the corner, which could mean he was raring to go and not ferrari jaded like the past 4 years I mean look at Fernandos eyes when everyone was expecting him to jump out of bed and start driving again, and the poor guy was getting his memory back etc, I never seen this Fernando, he shoul take all th time he needs and dont get rushed, especially not rushed into dicking with Jenson trying to not come 17th

Jenson doesn't want to waste anymore time. Button: Nothing wrong with McLaren steering
Jenson Button is convinced there is nothing wrong with the McLaren MP4-30, despite team-mate Fernando Alonso's latest suggestion that a steering problem caused him to crash in pre-season testing. Alonso had to miss the opening round of the season in Australia due to the concussion he sustained in the accident. He returns to the track this weekend in Malaysia, but in a remarkable press conference laid the blame for the accident on the McLaren's steering, denying it was due to driver error. None of McLaren's data points towards a car problem and Button, who has seen the steering trace but still decided to raced in Melbourne, does not believe there is an issue. Asked if he had ever had a problem that could not be traced in his career, Button said: "Maybe in karting. We have a lot of sensors on the car and this team is very experienced in incidents and they, as with every team in Formula One, take every precaution possible in terms of safety. "It's one of those things, isn't it? But after seeing the data and watching the steering trace, my view hasn't changed from what it had been when I saw the data initially. I feel comfortable getting into the car and driving it." And Button does not think the team should dwell on the issue ahead of this weekend."I think there have been enough days and nights of the team looking through the data, and with everything that we have you see nothing in the data. There is no other way of finding any other information in the data, so everything that is there has been looked at and there is no issue whatsoever. But I obviously wasn't in the car so I don't know how it felt." Howver, Button said it was understandable for the team and Alonso to look at every possibility. "For the team and for Fernando - with Fernando being in hospital for three days - it's always going to be an uncomfortable situation. Nobody likes to crash and no team likes to see their driver crash either because they are obviously worried about the driver's health, and they are always looking into what went wrong. "From my point of view, all I do is look at the data and I see there is nothing wrong with the data, so I drive the car. There's nothing else I can do and there is no other way of me getting information about what actually happened."

Yeah. I was thinking more of the irony....when he was all out of grip in Canada while his teammate won the race, and the engineers pored over his data trying to find his 'grip', I wonder if he thought if there was time wasting going on then.

Same old Jenson, smae old. Score points where possible ( not in the race of course ) far better do it in the motorhome or the press. But Alonso is no slouch when it comes to political gamesmanship. Oh that Mclaren garage could produce lots of entertainment , even if the car doesn't work! ?

• and a driver simulator session to test if you can drive like Jenson.

If I won and went there, and they told me "Hey wow you can drive just like Jenson!!" I'd put up a sour face and go "f**k you" and shuffle away in disappointment.

There's only 1 reaction for Button's drive today. Goes toe to toe with the crash king himself and takes the title away from him.

There's only 1 reaction for Button's drive today. Goes toe to toe with the crash king himself and takes the title away from him. He's out done Alonso in both races until today, he had it under control until the team split their strategies. Alonso looked good on the softs at the end but then again so did the other drivers who were on softs and that's down to the temperatures being higher than expected at the end of the race. We didn't see a temperature drop off like previous days. On previous days the mediums were better for the end of the race but today the softs were better.

I'll bet if Alonso wasn't there, there would've been no crash. Button is a choker when his teammate is right behind, he's done this time and time again. Another example was in Malaysia one time when Hamilton was right behind in rainy conditions and this guy crashed into a Sauber while overtaking breaking his front wing.
Mr Cruise and Collect, unless a teammate is close behind.

another day, another duck!! What cheek from Jenson Buttcheek. So Nico should follow his lead and 'topple' him by having a sugar daddy disturbed team boss? Or maybe by getting lapped in normal conditions? Or winning the '3 year bespoke points scoring' WC by relying on dnfs Or maybe by grabbing the mike from Sky to moan in public about Sergio? Or maybe squeal like a baby pig on team radio about his rookie teammate? Or maybe overseeing a team from equalising a lame duck at the cost of a title to their worst performance EVER Yes Buttwipe, you are the expert in how to 'beat' Lewis - jumping off the track and gambling on tyres when overtaken At least Nico drives fast and actually admits proving a point when crashing his teammate out instead of bitching on the radio 'WHAT is he DOING?'

Its completely meaningless talk, another airhead the stupid press get steak dinners off and dont ask hard questions For example lets have a go at applying some logic to Bottoms quacking vs vs vs What happened when Button got lapped and for months was finishing 14th with his team mate on the podium, and the whole team focussed on making a pig fly - that worked out well for the team didnt it , and thats real sporting advice coming from a wreck a team rather than get frustrated like Nico at coming a close second

Most of us knew what Button was up to from the outset. But it hurt 'some hugely to hear the truth. So we got all other strings of reasons given and told we were conspirators. And guess what, it was all true and Button is admitting it, Keep the backstabbing political crap to yourself Jenson, or better still, try it out on Alonso, see how that works out.
