This will be the first weekend I get to watch the F1 in full UHD quality (aka 4k. Even thought technically its not 4k). I'll let you know if I can spot any difference in picture. Might be the first weekend I watch a race this year.

The track is suited to Merc characteristics, slow corners, fast straights, demanding on traction. If Lewis doesn't get a win here, I'd start to get worried. Ferrraris looked fast in P1 and P2. Both in quali trim and race simulation. Lewis wasn't looking comfortable with the car. Gonna be an interesting one.

Mark my words, the Championship will be won because the Mercedes is way more reliable and Ferrari will take lots of engine penalties later in the season.

Phew seems like Merc CAN keep up here....I couldn't believe what I was looking at for practice times.

Seb & Kimi are using their 3rd Turbocharger, so that might be an issue. Interesting.
The Mercedes is overall faster just they keep locking up and sliding all over the place, Good job by Ferrari.
Mercedes potential: 1:32.875 Ferrari potential: 1:33.132

Congratulations to Ferrari on their front row lockout. I said early on that I didn't think Ferrari would get a pole this year unless Mercedes screwed up. I was wrong. Ferrari clearly have the best car on the grid.
It's going to be a development race all year long!

I was wrong. Ferrari clearly have the best car on the grid. But they don't have the best car, Mercedes had the fastest potential lap 3 tenths faster, it was all setup that was Mercedes' problem, just like Singapore before.

I see Mercedes beating Ferrari tomorrow only because Mercedes appear to be much softer on their tyres but they could very easily overheat them if they slide too much, I think they'll either need to do it on the run down to the 1st corner or back off and stay out longer and then when in clean air push as the undercut rarely works. I'd be tempted to pit very early with Bottas and force Ferrari to react, put on softs or supersofts and go to the end. Also, oh look Daniel Riccardio beating Verstappen. I've said lots of times Verstappen is hugely overrated!

Ferrari are going to spank Mercedes a new one today in the race. No two ways about it.
They are going to show them up for the bumbling fools they are. Now Mercedes have lost their +2s advantage, they are like a rabbit stuck in headlights.
Lewis is old, and past it. He is being shown up by his young team mate. Time for Lewis to retire. Lewis=Button2.0.
You know who I feel sorry for mostly at the moment. Romain Grosjean. Remember when he was driving up the top end of the grid. Getting podiums. And consistently beating Kimi. And now he is in a Haas. Poor guy. I like him.

Valtteri! Masterclass in launching! Grosjean & Palmer was a tough call, not much could happen there other than what did. Stroll got help, but still spun on his own. And Poor Alonso.... Game on for the next 48 laps!

Fantastic race by Bottas, perfect start and kept his head cool!
Mercedes need to open up their car a little more, both cars were struggling with temperatures with Hamilton obviously struggling more because of being in traffic.
Unfortunate for Hamilton, he had issues with the overheating and power dropouts.
Fantastic race from Perez and Ocon, cool, calm and kept it together.
Shame about the track being rather shitty and a huge lack of overtakes due to the aero regulations.

Great win for Valtteri! I think even Lewis will be happy to see him get his first, although I'm sure he'd have preferred to have been up there with him.
So Bottas comes off the "most podiums without a win" list (moving Grosjean up to 4th) and slots in to 11th on "Most starts before a win" right behind Eddie Ervine.
Hamilton, as much as I m a fan, always seems to have a race where he just has NOTHING every year. I don't buy the "overheating" and "looking after the car" as an excuse for why he was so far behind today, it might explain not being 3rd, but he wasn't going to win (even if I did tip him).
And I agree, Sochi is a BAD track. It gives rubbish races and honestly looks a bit like an old CART race with no fans. Just constant shots of concrete walls. The only thing worse than this track is Eddie Jordan.

Well done to Bottas on the win, did well to keep calm with the quicker Vettel behind.
As for the race, wasn't as excited as I thought it would be.

Agree with all of that, Lewis was in no mans land and surprised by the gap off 3rd place Kimi Also Eddie Jordan doing post race interviews is cringe worthy to watch.

The race was over at the start. Sochi is such a poor track, with zero impact on the softest Pirelli compound. All made worse by the obligatory Puttin contractual aggrandizing television shots. Hamilton was in no mood to race today, he just didn't have anything after the pitstop, so either something happened or it was just never going to happen and he shut it down. Real disapointment. But the disapointment of the weekend has to go to poor Ferrari. Their fans on such a high with the first front row lockout in a generation and they throw it away at the start.
Vettel again showing that he's the biggest baby on the grid, back to the blue flag complaints and the worst start all season. This should have by all right been a Ferrari 1-2, instead they reversed it with the Mercs and actually lost ground on the constructors championship today.
Eddie Jordan should be poisoned by a KGB agent before they leave Russia. The guy is utterly cringe-worthy watching. Force India, the little team that could. I knew they'd have a good race today but once again both driver in the points and they are looking like a genuine threat to cement their hold on that fourth WCC position they got last year. So happy for them. Imagine if the EU rules in their favor what they could do with twenty or thirty extra million in their budget? Hulkenberg also a solid race, Palmer should be shot.

The only thing worse than this track is Eddie Jordan. How can you "not buy" the overheating issues, it was very clear when he came into the pits that his car was HOT, his brake actually temporarily caught fire so clearly his car was over the limit, he had no chance after that to actually take it to Ferrari because once the car is overheating it's hard to bring it back down without losing stupid amounts of time so mixing that in with the power drops it's the only logical thing to do, save the car and drive for your current position because you have zero threat behind.
