A lot of things related to testing, recent news over engine parity between engine manufacture and their customers. Interesting.

serious struggles from McLaren to cool their car. Other Renault powered cars, not so much. Meanwhile the Honda engien in the Toro Rosso keeps chugging out laps. This is a headscratcher alright.

No head scratching needed, Honda was never the problem. The staff at McLaren are just screwed up, ever since Dennis left there is no real leader there. Too much politicking, too little racing and tenacity. Thanks to their history and past pedigree they had an easy time blaming Honda for everything.
Now the can of worms are starting to show.

After today, a lot of this from a timing standpoint is due to the new surface at the track but given that, last year's pole by Lewis was around a 1:19 flat.

Fighting words from Niki, personally I'd rather a fair fight with Red Bull than a finger on the scale fight with Ferrari. We'll see. First race in two weeks.

Everyone letting loose today, Vettel with a 1:17.1 qualifying sim and Bottas with a race sim that had lap after lap of times near last year's pole time.

Any good news on Williams ? Will they have a decent car through the corners this season ? Their car may be better than their drivers sadly. Today Paddy mentioned that they went backwards with Stroll when he came onboard after Kubica's morning run. They were lost in how to set up the car and lost time. They apparently had an epiphany at the end but nothing they had time to test. I feel this may be a recurring theme.

Huge respect for Dennis but damn he took some bad decisions over his career that led McLaren into a downward spiral. I can name a few, bring Boullier after his so called extraodinary work at Lotus, Dennis probably thought he was a genius at this time and he validated Prodemous' size zero concept while Honda told them this was a bad idea.

More informations on Williams.
From AMuS Williams-Mercedes: Williams had a close race with Sauber. The white cars with the martini stripes still puzzles drivers and engineers. The Williams FW41 apparently suffers from drift fluctuations when turning. This bothers the drivers' confidence in the car. In addition, the car does not harmonize with the new Pirelli tires. Because he did not benefit from the softer compounds, Williams spent most of his time on soft and medium rubbers. Neither Lance Stroll nor Sergey Sirotkin have enough experience to solve the problems unaided. That's where test driver Robert Kubica comes into play. Under the same conditions, the Pole is already the fastest man in the team. This will increase the pressure on the young regular pilots.
From Will Buxton: The car is reportedly an absolute dog to drive. It looks horrible on track, heavy, lazy and unresponsive. Can’t turn the tyres on. Drivers look brow beaten. It’s going to be a very hard season. Kubica, however, a breath of fresh air. Insight and experience could be key.
From Kubicactus: ‘’One morning was enough for me to understand the car, its strengths and its weaknesses, we need to widen the operating range to allow Lance and Sergey to ride with more confidence. This is important because they are still quite inexperienced.’’
Based on times and the feeling that I have there is no way Serguey doesnt perform better than Stroll this season. He seems to be a better driver than Stroll and talk efficiently about his and the whole situations at Williams to the press. What would be great in case where the first half of the season turn out to be a complete failure based on driver performance is that they put Kubicactus in one of the seat for the second half. Can Williams do that, its another question.

Oh and I think Williams decision to put Kubica reserve driver to work on the dvlpment of the car will expose how bad is Stroll or Serguey (?) maybe both. Well Serguey is a rookie after all.
