I lost all respect for McLaren last year after their BS claims of Honda holding them back.
BULLSHIT. The management deserves to rot in hell.

Leclerc, brilliant!! Grosjean If the guy isn't driving for Ferrari next year, it will be a bad joke. He's two positions behind Kimi driving a Sauber, Vettel has to be quaking in his racing shoes. Leclerc or Ricciardo? Vettel can’t veto them all. I’m pretty certain Leclerc will be at Ferrari. Let’s hope they actually use him instead of messing about like they did with Jules. And Mercedes should be securing Ocon. He gave an interview today going round the track in a car...it was a Mercedes car.

So the rumours & news going around...:
- Williams have taken a gamble to try and get some points by putting one of their cars on a very low downforce setting (Sirotkin) and the other on a very high downforce setting (Stroll) - McLaren expected qualifying to be wet and the race too, as such they put a lot of downforce onto their cars and as a result were slow in the dry* quallifying session. If it rains today in the race they should be very competitive although they've got to get through a lot of cars. If it's dry they should still be decent as high downforce protects the tyres and it is expected that tyre degradation is going to be key here. - Toro Rosso are also suspected of gambling for the wet and adding extra downforce, teams aren't sure if that's the reason or the Renault, Ferrari & Mercedes engine upgrades are just much much bigger than Hondas' - Mercedes' new engine is a healthy jump in performance with the only challengers for straight line speed being the Ferrari powered teams. - Hamilton's potential best laptime was 3 tenths faster than Bottas, he was also 7+ tenths clear of Red Bull and 6+ tenths faster than Ferrari.

If it rains today in the race they should be very competitive although they've got to get through a lot of cars. If it's dry they should still be decent as high downforce protects the tyres and it is expected that tyre degradation is going to be key here. Not buying this one bit. Especially after reading this pile of gibberish from Brown: LE CASTELLET, France -- McLaren has traced its lack of performance to a shortfall in its understanding of the car's aerodynamics, leaving it scrabbling for answers at this weekend's French Grand Prix. Boullier skipped McLaren's usual post-qualifying media briefing to work with the team's engineers, leaving executive director Zak Brown to field questions on the car's lack of performance. "I think we have identified the areas in which we have a problem or problems," he said. "It's in aerodynamics. It's something that doesn't show up in the wind tunnel.
"Therefore we can't try and solve it in the windtunnel because we can't replicate the issue or issues in the wind tunnel, so we have to try and fix the issues at the race track. And with no testing, or very limited testing, I think you could see that we were running different configuration wings this weekend, different floors, and unfortunately we are having to test and experiment at the race track. McLaren is solving its problems on the track due to problems in the wind tunnel. Dan Istitene/Getty Images "While most other teams are now on their development path and their base programme is working for them, we are having to identify and solve these issues. We had some different aerodynamic devices last year that we don't have this year, so we are having to sort these issues out at the race track."
Although McLaren has its own wind tunnel at its Woking base it opts to rent out Toyota's more advanced facility in Cologne for its F1 work. Brown admits the problem is not down to the Cologne wind tunnel itself, but an issue on the car that cannot be replicated in simulations. "I think the Toyota wind tunnel is fine -- I completely agree with you on that, it's not a wind tunnel issue. The characteristic of the race car -- because you can't simulate everything in the wind tunnel -- and what we've identified as the areas of weakness simply doesn't show up in the wind tunnel, whether it's Toyota's or someone else's, so it's something we need to develop at the race track."
When Brown was asked if Boullier would remain at the team until the final race in Abu Dhabi, he said: "I can confirm that everybody on the race team will be in Abu Dhabi." But when pushed on whether that meant Boullier's job was safe, he added: "I'm not going to get into any personnel changes. As a race team of 700 to 800 people, Eric is a valued member of the team. Clearly we have to identify why we have missed this year's aerodynamics and the development of the car." ______________________________________________ What a JOKE. The past 3 years it was ALLLLLL Honda. This year ITS THE AERODYNAMICS. Next year it will be the suspensions! Bunch of clowns, they have seriously gotten infected by the Buttonitis.

That didn’t take long. Preventable contact there for Vettel, but the chance of him being handed a drive through for that is slim, because that’s how it is.

Does anyone else find it highly annoying that cars are just flying off the track taking handy shortcuts, this place is like a parking lot. They call this a 'race track'?

How do you guys think Ferrari will get Vettel ahead of Raikkonen?

Post by racechick on Jun 24, 2018 15:17:53 GMT
He is ahead. Lol. And what’s your thoughts that Ferrari ask Raik ...,on faster tyres....to drop back so Vettel’s 5 sec penalty is negated?
ah ok, mute point, kimis past, Vettel struggling.

THANK YOU Daniel. Finally I see some actual racing, instead of the "ok fine you're faster, bugger off".

Not gonna lie, it was pleasant seeing Hamilton on the last lap cruising to the flag and lapping a damaged "I'm the best" McLaren trundling around outside the track, after trying to attempt a vain fastest lap.
