I think the Williams will pass Seb, who will revert back to hi crashkid antics when amongst the pack without a 2 sec car, allowing Kimi to mug him for the first time.
Also I reckon Kimi will be so desperate to do well he might even postpone the breakfast double vodka lime till after the race (or after he crashes out etc)
i have a feeling the pressure on Ferrari to keep the Tifosi in dreamland will manifest in the race tomorrow

There's also a lot of rookies in and around the lower end of the top ten. I'm thinking Sauber and Torro Rosso drivers. That's perhaps a little unfair on them, I'm impressed on the whole and enjoy watching them. But they are rookies and prone to errors, so if kimi is tardy off the start, or has brain fade, he may also have that quartet to contend with. And Maldonado isn't far away either

He had this at Redbull till Ricciardo entered, and now it seems he has it firmly at Ferrari as well. I'd bet good money that Seb comes out on top comprehensively in Ferrari this year. Kimi is past it, and I think Seb knows it. He seems very comfortable and refreshed at Ferrari (after the a$$ pounding received last season) so I wouldn't be surprised to see him give a pretty damn good performance this year. Ferrari always has a no.1 and no.2 and it's too obvious who's no.1 already.

yeah, that sounds spot on for the rest of the season, I just have a feeling Seb will have just a bit too much 'passion' on his back and coupled with a feeling of helplessness as he gets some pedigree British inspired German carbon monoxide in his face could get silly and Kimi could benefit as the team try really hard to get him to the end of the race without falling of the wagon. lets face it, Seb has had a free ride so far with expectations, but now he has really gone and wound up the 'passion' and he use to get pretty rattled with Webber
could get tasty :wheresmypopcorn:

Fastest in FP1, FP2, FP3, Pole, Fastest Lap, Win. What's bigger than a grand chelem??? The guy is pure class!!!! Managing the middle stint and then KILLING it during the pitstop window, put everyone else to bed.

Mercedes were cruising, they didn't need to worry like they clearly were about Ferrari. Just look at just before Hamilton pitted he went 0.8 to 1 second faster 3 laps in a row, that sort of difference means he had TONS of tire life left.
Great drive from Raikkonen again, Vettel got saved by the Safety car... Raikkonen was going half a second faster the lap just before the Safety Car came out.
Hamilton handled that race flawlessly, didn't even get challenged he kept it just above 1 second in the first stint and twoards the end of the stint he pulled out a 5 second gap, he then went and cruised and kept it between 1.5 and 2.5 seconds then eventually pulled out 5 seconds, then in the last stint he pulled out a further 10 seconds until the safety car ruined it.

Masterclass from Lewis.... I was really hoping that Kimi would rattle Seb...& get past him...Kimi's tyres were 4? laps newer.... Kimi would have got him unless team orders came into play, Raikkonen was 0.5 faster in the previous lap and was 0.3-0.4 the previous few laps to that. If you watched throughout the race Vettel was going good until near the end of his stints where his tyres started to go off quickly, they were dropping off just as Raikkonen was about to get into DRS range. We never saw a drop off for either of the Mercs nor did we see it for Raikkonen. Raikkonen's had impressive long runs and races so it would have more than likely of ended up positive for Raikkonen.

That was really a masterclass of racing from Lewis. At first it was hard to believe one driver could manage his tyres and the 2 cars around him with that kind of precision. Talking about reading the race from the cockpit. Ferrari did their tyres keeping up with Merc who had the race under control, well Lewis anyway, but then he was the guy in clean air so fair dues.
Nico is gonna think back to his reaction and cringe later, but just what F1 needs - some boxing style rivalry and pee taking and even smack talking - great stuff. Its gonna be so funny to see who actually finds a way of blaming Lewis for this - probably the same ones who backed Nico over Monaco/Spa.
Obviously thy did have an arrangement before the race and Lewis broke it - a bit like Monaco but this time Lewis even managed to out flank Merc management
Merc (Lewis) have learnt to use the power advantage sparingly like RBR in 2013
Good for Rogro, trust Button to crash into Maldonado instead of remembering his form and letting him pass - Alonso is definitely a class apart. Williams very very disappointing, Bottas becoming another flash in the pan maybe.
I enjoyed this race, it had a bit of everything you want in a race, apart from the beastly SC letting Seb off the hook from a desperate lunge from Kimi on the last lap

Brundle just said "You were coasting out front weren't you?" and Lewis's reply was a bit slow, started with a smirk and replied "I was enjoying myself out there"
Maldonado still technically was involved in a crash so I hope hasmaldonadocrashedtoday has been updated lol.
The two Lotus cars were actually pretty impressive and so were the McLarens, looks like it'll only be a race or two until they'll be fighting with Sauber/Toro Rosso and Lotus.
It was a good race to watch I agree, but you're right the safety car was a huge let down, ruined the end of the race.

Radio to HAM Great stuff Lewis, great stuff. Stellar weekend mate. That's the full house Paddy: Great job Lewis, fantastic win, thank you. HAM: Great job all weekend guys - whoo! Yeah man!
Radio to ROS Great job Nico, 1-2 for the team. Not good for you, but very good for the team result, thank you.
Radio to VET Yes! P3, P3. Well done mate. Another podium, good effort. VET: Good job guys, good job guys. They were just a bit too quick today. I think on the options we were more competitive, but on the primes obviously was more difficult. But grazie, grazie ragazzi. Grande lavoro, P3, una podium. Grazie. (Thanks, thanks boys. Great work, P3, a podium. Thanks)
Radio to RAI Okay, good job Kimi, good job. RAI: Why thank you.
Radio to MAS MAS: Yeah, we did the best of the race. Unfortunately, we couldn't get close to Ferraris, but it was a good race. Thank you guys. Okay, cheers Felipe. Nice job. Another good, solid race. Good performance, looked after the tires well. Had two good stints on the prime tire there.
Radio to BOT So P6, good job. Beaten by cars that were quicker today.
Radio to GRO Well done mate, well done. First points of the season, P7. GRO: Good job guys, good job. Not easy on the second stint, but very pleased though, so thank you.
Radio to NAS So that's P8, well done. That was a solid race, and good pace also. NAS: So P8 for us then? Confirm, P8. NAS: Okay, good job guys. Yeah, yourself also. NAS: Yeah we had no chance early on in the race. Anyways, still some good points for us. Yeah, worked out well.
Radio to RIC We were in with a real good shout at the end there mate, bit of a shame about the safety car for us, you were doing a great job. Well done mate.
Radio to ERI Okay Marcus, well done, good job. So we're P10, Felipe managed to get P8, Ricciardo in between. Think you showed a good fight, good overtaking, good defending. Think wasn't too easy, think we picked up a bit too much understeer actually. Maybe the track picked up some grip, actually the rear gained more than the front end. ERI: Yeah, I was struggling a lot in the slow speed with the front tires not working at all. Anyway, we got some points, that's good. Or one point, ha. Yeah, that's good, so good job.
Radio to ALO Okay Fernando, that is the end of the race. We finished P12, got both cars home, that's a good step forward. Had a few difficulties during the race, but hopefully you had a little fun out there at times. ALO: Yeah, it's okay guys. First race really for me, so yeah. Good to bring the car home. We know soon we will have a bit more fun. Yeah, absolutely.
Radio to BUT Well done mate. Bit of a tough afternoon, but we got the car home at least. We're definitely getting closer to the pace of the midfield cars, so still signs of progress I think. BUT: Yeah, sorry about, uh, the incident. Um, apart from that, yeah. The option run was reasonable, the primes struggling a little bit with the rear.

There probably is no shock in this outburst but, I completely get Lewis' race craft as it relates to driving out front in China. This was his and the team's moment to fight back after being beaten by Ferrari in Malaysia. One of the ways to beat them, particularly Vettel, was to race in a way to preserve his tyres and cover the red cars. So Lewis did just that. He forced Ferrari's hand to pit first and then put in some good laps before pitting. While covering Vettel, he is still racing Nico since he was behind. He, Lewis, had to manage the gap to Nico so that Nico couldn't get any closer without destroying his tyres. Lewis has no obligation to speed up in order to benefit Rosberg. Nico needs to sort out his own needs. I sum this all up as a thinking man's race craft. So Nico views this all as a direct violation. Poor baby. Before the unravelling usually comes the crying. The rot has begun and Nico is becoming desperate now. On Lewis' side, he's driving very well. Regained his qualifying prowess from recent yesteryear and remaining very sharp on his race distance. Good run in China...now roll on Bahrain. Such fun!

A lot of talk for two weeks about Ferrari's superior tire handling capability in all kinds of temps, not just the extreme heat of Malaysia, but they were confident they had more than enough pace and tire strategy to bring the race to the Mercs... well, maybe not so much. Mercedes had more than enough to simply cat an mouse an entire race, letting Ferrari make the first and desperate move with each pit stop and as the race would unfold, only to fall further and further back. The Ferrari's achilles heel has been (since the new regs) bad performance on the hard tires and that proved to be still the case here. They simply fell apart ones they got to the primes. The SC robbed us out of a little excitement, would have been nice to see the last couple of laps scraps from the Ferrari boys as well as what might have been with Grosjean and Nasr, but hey, it was a good strategic race with solid results. A master class of managing a race from the front with Lewis, utilizing the gap not only to his advantage but to the disadvantage of everyone behind him. Got the most out of the tires and it's clear than when the Mercs needs to pull lap, they have it and then some. Lewis Hamilton, full house, lead every session, Pole, Race Win and Fast Lap. Talk about crickets on the interwebz today.

Does anyone know who was the Mercedes guy that greeted Lewis in that little room that they go in before the podium? The guy was on the podium with them too. He seemed genuinely fond of Lewis and Lewis with him. I don't see that often with Lewis, it's all usually very professional.

Here's Lewis' interview on BBC for anyone who missed it. The bit that jumped out at me was Lewis saying its the first time he's had a perfect set up, the car was great. Just got lucky? Or has Lewis and his new race engineer just found the sweet spot?

Lewis says "this track has always been good for me..." Hey...what about 2007? The irony is everyone now uses that tarmac (ex-Lewis'-famous-trap) to carry more speed into the pitlane and save time...

Lewis says "this track has always been good for me..." Hey...what about 2007? To be fair to him he wasn't doing too bad in the race considering just made one tiny mistake which had big consequences.
