Alonso has been cleared to race. Apparently a couple of formality tests, Thursday at the track and we're off racing. I'm glad he's back on board actually. Source SkyF1

It's been storming here (I mean doors slamming due to winds, curtains flying out of windows) the past few days between 3-5pm and this is exactly when the race is on.

This is still the best Msian GP for me. Despite a crap result (Ferrari 1-2), the race was epic from start to finish. Kinda feel this race cemented this GPs place in the calendar in terms of likeability.

Look how fast those 2 Ferrari's pulled a gap on everyone, within a single lap they were both over a second ahead of 3rd... even with bad pit stops & mess ups by the ferraris they still won, sure they had assistance of rain but they were so much faster.

This was just 2001, considered to be only a pretty handy car when compared to their 2002 dominance.

Will STR beat RBR? RBR get lapped by Williams and Ferrari? Will Alonso beat Manor? Will Horner and Cyrill kick off in the presser? What will happen if Kimi is ahead of Seb?
Should be a great race

I love those last two. I'd also a dd, what will happen at McLaren? I mean if Alonso trounces Button? Or vice versa of course. I expect it will be reasonably cordial whichever way it goes.....the first time it happens, but the more it happens...and the faster the McLaren becomes, I expect for starters we will see a rise in the excuses/ toy throwing...depending on which way it swings. I know which way I think it will swing, but this is F1. Expect the unexpected!!

I think Kimi and Seb are close enough in performance and their 2 characters are actually jeckle and hyde when it comes to competition. All this talk about getting on and good friends - yeah right, only if Seb beats Kimi, but not just beat, he will want to show the world he can put Kimi daown at will. And kimi aint gonna want that, in fact thats the only thing that will stir him out of his haagen daz fanatsy and provoke him into putting th ice cream down and driving fast. Kimi will be gunning to show the world (esecially Arrivaderchi) that he really is a giant who couldnt be bothered as opposed to a duck who was mistakened for a giant. This could be the biggest source of fireworks afterall. Seb is close enough for Kimi to get motivated, Seb needs to emulate Alonso at the same time taking more than his friend Kimi offers to look 'hard', at some point Kimi will look to remind Seb that he 'once was a contender' and Seb will cry to Ariiva to get rid of Kimi and then we should see the full dingdong we been waiting for - designer ferrari handbags

Should be a great race I expect Renault to have already worked out some issues so I don't see them getting lapped by Williams or Ferrari. Will Alonso beat Button?I hope they kick off and have an open arguement, Toto will be doing the hand in palm rubbing his hand with his thumb just sucking in the atmosphere. I think it will be pretty close all year between Kimi and Seb.

The FONZ has opened yet another can of worms, giving stories of passing out in the helicopter then the clinic and saying its all part of the procedure. A good article on espn on how badly McLaren and the FONZ have coordinated their Walt Disney stories.
Alonso: More questions than answers
I don't appear to be alone in my confusion over the precise cause of Fernando Alonso's crash and what happened to him subsequently.
First, McLaren assure us that rigorous tests - and, knowing McLaren, I have no doubt they were forensic - proved there was nothing wrong with the car. Then Alonso says of the steering: "Definitely…..it locked to the right".
Even allowing for Alonso apparently running a different steering system, it's surely unusual to have steering 'lock' these days, never mind the team find no trace of it during their subsequent analysis? At least it's reassuring for all concerned to have Jenson Button say that having seen Alonso's steering trace, he still feels happy getting into the car.
Regarding the impact, there's a contradiction in that Alonso suggests he might have been concussed at that point but he remembers everything in great detail when the car came to a halt. Then he says: "I lose the conscious in the ambulance I think, at the clinic at the circuit. Doctors said this is normal for the medication for helicopter transportation and checks in the hospital, the MRI and evaluation needs this protocol, needs this medication, so it's normal."
Checking with friends in the medical profession, they are surprised about the final line because, according to one: "No medication is usually required for an MR. Sometimes when patients are found to be claustrophobic when in an MR scanner, they are given an anti-anxiety medication to relieve their fears of being closed in. This would not normally occur unless they had experienced this before or if it happened when they got into the scanner. And sometimes injections of contrast called Gadolinium are given, but they certainly don't cause any sedation.'"
It is also unusual to be sedated in an ambulance under circumstances such as this and unusual that sedation should be administered in the helicopter. The general rule appears to be the need to keep the patient conscious - unless in pain, of course - in order to have both full understanding of their condition and their ability to assist with providing history of the incident on arrival at the hospital.
This is not to rebut in the slightest what Alonso says; he was there; we weren't. But you can see how this adds to the general air of confusion.
In any case, all must be okay because the FIA medical team has passed Alonso fit, thus thankfully ruling out suggestions that he may have briefly suffered from some sort of medical condition leading to the accident.
It's good to have him back. Now let's get on with the racing.

They were my initial thoughts too, I knew about the sedation stuff and instantly shook my head because it's obviously a lie. I also found it interesting how Alonso said that he has no worries, doubts or extra nerves even though they "don't know what went wrong with the car" and that he's admiant that it was the cars steering. That alone doesn't add up

I still stick with what I said all along, Alonso drove his fastest lap ever in that car the previous lap and was trying to go even faster, and lost it, maybe misjudged the wind, doesnt matter - the physics won over Alonsos ambition and he went off, and is now concocting a fairy tale wrapped around memory loss or 'something strange'. And he already has the team on the back foot, tiptoeing around him, next he will be texting his samurai shit, hinting stuff and generally causing rifts within the team.
Lets hope his car development skills outweigh the bitching and bullfighter malarkey or Honda might find out why Ferrari, Renault (twice) and McLaren paid his taxi last time he left

Looks like Hamilton's just lost an Engine in Practice Ferrari look like they've improved a bit since Australia they seem to be very good on the power front, we won't see what Williams have to offer till Practice 3 or Quallifying. McLaren now look like they're ahead of Force India so they've made a big step up however the front end on the McLaren sucks, it just isn't turning in good. Manor... gosh they're so far off the pace it's not even funny, I don't think they'll race because of the 107% rule. Mercedes (Rosberg) showed that they can go out and just straight away throw in a fast lap which is fast enough to comfortably be under 5th fastest
