Did you notice that Lewis got a little bit of a booing? I was surprised by that. The guy has been a model brand for F1, both as a Champion and as a person...not to mention he's at a "home" race for Petronas. Am I missing something? Such funny business. Bunch of retarded Malaysian fans in a corner somewhere. wait.. But...em...our Hammer, aren't you in...? Such fun!

Merc just didnt want to race on the primes this weekend, and had decided early doors that they were gonna go against the grain and get the options out the way Asap and beat everyone by using the slower tyre that would miraculously deliver more performance at the hottest most abrasive surface of the year. The same kind of stubborn, illogical and inflexible stuff McLaren did in those years Paddy was there as understudy TP to Fartin Whitetrash Someone has to keep Paddy away from trackside decision maker and keep him managing the engineers etc. For me even Niki would be better, but compared to Ross Brawn, Bouiller, Paddy is a model for the Peter principle - even Twatrash wanted to promote Sam Michael above him to TP. And that stuff about forgetting to switch the pit radio from drivers obviously Lewis was making some kin o point as Im sure it happens all the time when even the drivers are in the loop for inter team comms. So this was some kind of exasperation at Paddy trying to be Ron or something. Niki needs to lend his experience here and paddy needs to go back to being a brilliant nerd, but ofourse letting Niki lose with executive powers could be the last thing anyone needs, maybe they can poach someone from RBr but this is a weak link in the Merc AMg management - its like having the disturbed Pantin Frightcrash on the Merc pitwall

Do you think Toto realises this weakness? And if so do you think he will do anything about it?

We all said this was likely to be the weak point in the Merc AMg TP role split. Toto is undeniably good at his role - the public facing, commercial handling exec, and Niki is good as the representative of the owners and backers, and paddy is a great managing engineer - as evidenced by McLarens reputation for effective development and engineering through the season. But themissing link in this triangulated TP role split is the trackside boss
The guy who runs things on race day - the Ross, Ron FW, even Flabio, Bouiller. We discussed this over a year ago as the weak link and its bcoming more and more obvious. Ross Brawn didnt want to stay to just do this, but no one else really has the experience making trackside calls. I would poach Boiuller from McLaren whilst theres a chance, but its only a part time role the way Merc Amg are set up, and its gonna be hard to get Paddy to hand over this power on sundays. So it can only be Niki IMHo - but that would mean some seismic shifts in the power dynamic.
Its possible Paddy is near imposible to shift and i doubt hes gonna get any better, hopefully there is a race engineer in the wings to 'assist' Paddy, but i can see Wetcrack led Mclaren style fk ups going forward.

Yes we did say they lacked a strategist when Ron left. And it will show whenever the racing gets close.they have themselves a bit of a problem here!
Nikki would likely be better than paddy, he does command authority, and inspire confidence, I don't know what he's like as a strategist though, and he can be a loose cannon. But Paddy doesn't ever fill me with confidence on the pit wall.

Thing is nowadays the trackside boss just has to make decisions, quick, corrrect, inspire confidence - 'NO Nico!', every strategic option will be bashed by the guys back at Brackley in real time, and at any one time he will have every option presented, he just has to pull the trigger and have a strong reason to exude the confidence that he knows what he is doing so everyone just follows and no one hesitates. Boiler was good at this and is likly rotting at Mclaren with Ron there and the car at the back
I mean whos gonna take a pipsqueak like Paddy seriously having understudied to Pratin Shitbash and backed Jenson Buttcrack over Lewis and threw away a couple of WDCS for disturbing reasons? Compared to Ross or Bouiller who impos themselves and appear to have a clear idea. I mean even Paddys wife is much taller than him

Well...I'm just prayin...that Ross will go back to Merc. I'm sure he knew this was going to happen As has been said ..a safe pair of hands & a clear thinking head...& a 'I have control' mentality Paddy comes across as a ditherer on the pit wall....Toto is great but not a strategist.. Can we start a petition...'Bring back Ross Brawn...PLEASE' or 'Please come back Ross...you were right' ...

yeah its a good overview and when you need more detail of how a pass happened etc, you can then go dig into the lap time and tyre/fuel data in something like this which is the same data but less stylised and more informative www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2015/03/29/how-mercedes-safety-car-strategy-backfired/for team mates comparisons there is no substitute, looking at the Alonso vs Button vs Perez is very intresting if you are a Mac follower
