Already one week down but still Interesting to see the shift in tire choice from some of the teams, with Red Bull clearly going the aggressive route. We'll have some teams trying to stretch things for a one stopper and other teams that will look to use the fresher rubber from a two stopper to make moves at the end of the race. Never dull at Spa, just have to wait a little is all. It will somehow still be a 1 stop. That seems to be the trend this year. I don't even know why Pirelli bother suggesting a 2-stop strategy.

2008 edition was epic. I wish I could find the one with the french commentaries. Allen and specially Brundle sound boring on this one.

Man Hamilton has had a tough road with the stewards and penalties in his career. This one was pretty embarrassing to pass off as anything but manipulation.

That was an appalling decision. I still get angry at it. Hamilton did a great drive. I'd forgotten Kimi put it in the wall anyway, so what was the point? Oh yeah........I get the point.

I remember that! Eeks , showing my age! Instigated by one Mr. Coulthard. A very angry Schumacher, hilarious! After HE ran back of Coulthard. Had an eventful race did David. And Damon won!

I loved that race! Still remember it pretty well, all that drama and crazy emotions all round. Was one of those races I didn't really care about the end result since my fav drivers were out (DC came back out and was running 7th I think) but just a great race all round.

I'm still rather shocked to see these official F1 videos sanctioned by F1... why did we have to suffer so much with the little troll? What was the point of keeping stuff like this off of YouTube? Anyway, glad we have it now to share and discuss.

Ferrari International Assistance at his finest back in the day, the number of time they cheated and haven't been penalized. And speaking of 1998, I still dont know how nobody ended up injuried.

Lol I thought DC had won a championship but damn, he actually never won a championship, crazy. I think It's safe to say Webber was the australian DC. I remember in my childhood with my sister, we were laughing on that big jaw It was the first time that we see a jaw like that.

I was waiting since 1999 for DC to win a Championship, never happened. His best season was in 2001, he started out so well in the first three races and then seemed very consistent but the car just wasn't up to scratch. Hakkinen was in his shadow that entire year.

I read McLaren spec 4 is about to go Ham at Spa, +15hp If they can reduce significantly the gap or beat Williams by a good margin. It will be encouraging for the second half of the season.

Spec 4. Man did Honda get it wrong. I'm hoping this does it, otherwise we're going to feel major ripples in the entirety of the sport.

All this time to kill..... so watching some older races... and I just realised. We get rain at Spa. Sometimes a LOT of rain. Could this be the first run of the new wet start procedures? To recap:
* If rain is the reason for the SC start, all cars must be on full wets. * Cars will take the formation lap behind the safety car. They will continue to do laps behind the safety car until Race Control deem it's dry enough for a start. These laps will be FORMATION laps, not counted as RACE laps, and will reduce the total number of laps for the race. Once the track is ready to go racing, the safety car will pull in and cars will line up in their grid slots for a normal racing procedure. * Cars starting from pit lane MAY join the tail for the formation laps, pulling back into the pits with the safety car to commence the start from pit lane. * Any car entering the pits during the formation lap will be deemed unable to take their grid spot, and have to start from Pit Lane. * Tyre compound changes are not allowed prior to the race start proper. Any car changing tyre compound will be given a 10s stop-go penalty. * Any car delayed for any reason, who is unable to regain his starting position before the SC cross the 1st SC line on the way into the pits, will have to start from pit lane. If that driver fails to do so and takes their regular grid spot for the start, they will be given a 10s stop-go penalty.
So, imagine Monaco last year. All the cars head off for 7 "formation" laps, meaning it's now a 71 lap race. Everyone forms up on the grid and it's GO GO GO... Magnussen meanwhile, comes straight in from the back of the train to change to Inters, and gets a 10s stop-go penalty because he hadn't crossed the start/finish line to actually BEGIN the race.

Don't fancy the new rules at all....severely constricts teams from thinking on their feet. Especially the midfielders who could shake up everything by taking a split second decision during those formation laps.

It could result in 20 cars heading to the pits at the end of lap 1! That would be interesting

Oh yes. LOL! Actually, I it was done deliberately to keep us on out toes in the off season. Meanwhile....I don't get this point...... " Cars will take the formation lap behind the safety car. They will continue to do laps behind the safety car until Race Control deem it's dry enough for a start. These laps will be FORMATION laps, not counted as RACE laps, and will reduce the total number of laps for the race. Once the track is ready to go racing, the safety car will pull in and c yes! Haha. I think o it was a deliberate Erie to keep us on our toes n the off season. " If they're formation laps and not race laps, why are they reducing the total number of laps in the race ?
