BREXIT

Since this will be a talking point in Britain over the next few months I thought it would be good to have a thread. My view is we should leave. And these are my reasons. Too much of our national decisions are made by undemocratic Brussells beurocrats who are accountable to no one. We can't properly protect out national industries ( like steel) because of EU rules. Even though France protect their car industry. The beurocrats set rules yet they break them themselves with impunity. ( letting in Greece who didn't meet fiscal requirements comes immediately to mind) Merkel acted unilaterally and broke the Schengen agreement and the Dublin rules when she opened the doors without restrictions to refugees and migrants. She now wants joint action across Europe to clear up her mess. We pay 10 billion a year net to the EU. Not worth it. Mass of red tape and beaurocracy which limits small businesses in the UK Im sure there's more, I'll think of. Here's an article I came across this morning supporting brexit from the business point of view. www.talkcarswell.com/home/british-business-will-boom-after-brexit-but-suffer/2973

Problem with the link you provide, its from a UKIP member. So I cant take him seriously at all.
I am undecided on how I feel about it - and everywhere I go for information to try to make a decision, its all soundbites - without any explanation on the reasoning.

It is from a UKIP. I didn't notice that at first. But when you consider their whole reason for being is to get the UK out of Europe it stands to reason they'll have the facts on that. But it isn't really a party issue. It cuts across parties.
Cameron wants in. But a lot of Tories want out. But Cameron is not proving robust enough to renegotiate the UK terms , and he should. If The UK left, Europe would be In even more shit than it is now. He should capitalise on this.
Corbyn can't make up his mind. He voted against Europe last time, yet he's mumbled about staying in recently, before going quiet on the issue and getting stuck in to the Falklands and non armed submarines. He really needs out if he's to attain his utopian socialist republic, maybe he's afraid of even more infighting in his party,
So with both main parties split one shouldn't attach party politics to the issue because both sides will be arguing both cases. UKIP will always vote out.

But when you consider their whole reason for being is to get the UK out of Europe it stands to reason they'll have the facts on that. You mean... " when you consider their whole reason for being is to get the UK out of Europe it stands to reason they'll have only the facts that back them up on that, skewed to enhance their viewpoint, and ignoring all others." I agree its not a party issue. But I dont trust any of the parties ot give me ALL the facts and let me decide - they only give the facts that back up the decision that suits them and their agenda. I want facts from experts in finance and politics that have no bias (do they exist?). I am listening to a lot of Radio 4 at the moment.

Yes. You'll get the 'out' facts from UKIP, undoubtably. But you'll always get the the facts skewed to the views of the writer. It's an emotive subject. And a massively important one to the UK! I guess all we can do is read around from all quarters and make our own mind up. But I'm definitely towards 'out' at the moment.

If the UK leaves the UE would probably dissolve within 5 years. The problem with leaving a union is that you're left to solve future problems on your own. The current price per barrel of oil would have been pretty damned catastrophic to an independent Scotland.

Indeed Scotland would be in dire straights if it had gone independent. All their economy was based on their oil.
But the UK is different to Scotland. And it did pretty well before the EU. I can't think of many positives for our 10 billion but I see lots of negatives.
You're right. If the UK left I don't think the EU would survive. Cameron should be exploiting that if he wants people to vote to stay in.

No no no, I want to stay in the EU! Goddamn! You're kidding me? Ok, it's my mission to change your mind. You our realise all the politicians have vested interests in their choices. 'Call me Dave' has his old boy network who work in the city to look after, - they want in. 'Comrade Corbyn' is a little confused, really wants out so he can have his socialist republic, voted out last time but now wants in. Perhaps he sees more support coming from the EU beurocrats than the PLP? Anyway, you are my mission RyRy.

Here is a very clearly stated article by the BBC about the EU, from the very basic , 'what is a referendum', to who is supporting in or out and why. www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32810887There are links within the article to give more information about both sides of the debate. Here's one such link about the pros and cons of staying in or going out of the EU over a range if different issues. www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32793642Bear in mind the articles come from the BBC who may have vested interests on 'in' or 'out'. But nevertheless less it gives an idea of the things to think about.

You can never change my mind on it RC, we are 100% better off staying with the EU, the only thing we should avoid at all cost is to change our currency to the euro.
It quite frankly would be stupid of us to leave the EU.

I'm not asking RyRy to cause an argument - I'm interested, as an undecided party, what his reasoning is - because he has such a strong opinion. RC on the other hand seems out for blood!
